Handheld Wars #169 - Pokémon (Round 6) (Civil War)

Even though I didn't request to discuss Black 2 & White 2, I don't mind that Armored Core made a separate Who Defeatz thread for them.

I guess the reason I didn't bother requesting to talk about these two games is because I don't know how they compare to the first versions of Black and White. Usually Nintendo would release a single enhanced sequel to the first two games of a gen (i.e. Yellow Version, Crystal version, Emerald Version, etc.) which would feature one or more new legendaries along with additional enhancements like better sprites, animated sprites, new overworld details, new game modes like battle tower, etc. But Black 2 and White 2 seemed to break that tradition and I'm not sure what legendaries were added or what exactly was changed as I haven't played them. Nintendo seemed to abandon this idea entirely starting with gen VI, and we haven't gotten any more of these enhanced sequels since. I wonder why.

I imagine the Version 2 label marketing idea for these games didn't go as planned because I never heard anyone mentioned them, which means Nintendo probably abandoned the idea afterwards. It's just too confusing for the general public, it makes it sound like an update as opposed of its own stand alone thing.

It's funny what Mark said about running out of names for pokémon that they may start using Ikea trademark names for them, LOL! Dude is just hilarious. He definitely deserves more recognition from the industry for all the things he accomplished for it during his YouTube years.
