Ah, the staple game of every 80's/90's school computer in America.
Nope, never played it. Ove here, we had Pirates, Gold Rushes and Fossils Alive. The computers in my high school years used friggin' Window 3.1 (which only had Breakout) until the year 2001, which upgraded to M.E.

To all of our friends who are outside of the US, did you play this game at all as a kid, or was it a US thing only? Balder and I weren't too sure if this game was played by many people.

Of course, the whole world knows what's on America's plate, but usually not the other way around.

As a kid, what I really found in every school computer was Carmen Sandiego. I only played Oregon Trail much later, as an adult.

I played the 1990 version in school when I was a kid, some good memories of it.
Recently I played a game called Organ Trial which is a throwback to it, but with zombies. It wasn't bad.

Haha this was extremely fun! Incredible how advanced it is. Is it all luck based on percentage on what happens? Only one passenger died (Who was name Dan E. Kool oddly enough).

I always had an easier time with the Banker due to the extra money he brought. There is some randomness (I always hated the thieves who set fire to your wagon.), but there is a bit of strategy to it. You have to be careful with crossing rivers, and it was ALWAYS important to go hunting whenever possible. The thing that pissed me off the most was hunting for over 1000 lbs of food, and your screen looks like this: ...and then you see this: That used to cause me to rage.

dschult3 I thought hunting was pretty redundant as you could only salvage 100 lbs. I went with the banker and found out quickly that food was the most important thing by far. I bought three of each spare parts and only used 1 in my whole game.

The career you choose is also the difficulty level. Banker is playing the game on easy, carpenter is medium, and farmer is hard. You get rewarded with more points for playing as the harder starting careers. Also, I named all of my characters Balder and they all died of dysentery.
