Lord Karnage Vault: DARIUS II

Damn nice, he has the case, the manual and everything. This is my favorite Darius game. People say it is Darius Gaiden their favorite, but this one on the arcades with dual screens is a real beauty. I came to visit to see if they still had the cabinet, but the place that used to carry it closed down and sold all their cabinets. TMNT II sold for only $500. It was Karnage indeed. All the machines from that place are gone now. I particular love the soundtrack and sound effects, not to mention the extra wide screen on the arcades. I think they were at least 55 inch monitors. For CRTs that was massive.

That's a different game though. That cabinet is for Darius Burst, the game you can buy on PS4 and Steam. It is an awesome game too, the best shmup on PS4. The DLC is amazing, it has stuff from Cave and many other amazing shmups classics. The Taito Vewlix arcade stick is perfect for it. I think someone here owns it. It would be a dream for me to own that cabinet. It comes for four players. That one and the F-Zero AX one they have in Las Vegas are both pretty dreamy.

The one I was referring to for Darius II looks something like this one from Taito Hey in Japan:



In fact, it was exactly like that one, just in white color. Although I remember seeing it across three monitors for some reason.

Most cabinets in that place were exactly like that, some white like Darius, but mostly black, except that most games only had one monitor.

When I speak of my memories in the arcades, that's how cabinets were, with those big screens and the sticks at a distance. That's how I remember Killer Instinct, Killer Instinct 2, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat 4, X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, etc..

Apparently in some places they also had extra wide screens for Darius II. If you had three of them, you could use them for other purposes, such as arcade racers.





I posted a video of me testing Darius II on MAME a while ago. I think it was on the older forum. I have an 135 inch projector screen which works perfect for extra wide games.



By the way, that one was my arcade stick before I got it modded. It did the job, but it was pretty crappy in comparison as how it is today. I don't use my projector anymore because it got dirty. I need to clean it. The only thing I don't like is that I need to keep the room dark to enjoy it. Although I did have a blast playing the 3D HD version of Shadow Of The Colossus on it.

No worries. I don't expect you to recognize it. You told me about the arcade situation in Norway before. If anything you should open an arcade place there.

I see, if anything you still have the option to at least make your own game room with your favorite machines. I'll try to do one at some point. I just don't have the right amount of resources yet.
