I inherited an Intellivision II that belonged to my aunt's ex boyfriend after they had broken up and never came back to pick it up. I was around 6 years old and would play it religiously along with my PSone. Along with the console I also inherited a small, brown plastic case with the Intellivision logo engraved on it that came with a few games like Burger Time, Dracula (which had great artwork on the cartridge), and Mission X.
Mission X is a simple vertical scrolling shooter where you pilot a WWII bomber and your objective is to destroy as many enemy ships and planes as possible. Why did I love the game so much as a kid? I have no idea but it just caught my attention more than any of the other Intellivision games. I spent hours playing this while blasting Rage Against the Machine on my CD player and thats when the idea came to me. I created in my head the trailer for a film that had a far more complex story and Rage Against The Machine as the film's main score ( although the game is very simple and we never actually see the pilot I imagined him looking like the guy on the US cover art for Driver) The film had the main pilot receive a dossier with Mission X written on it and then proceeds to drop kick bad guys through windows.
That's as much as I can remember from the fake trailer I made up in my head sometime in 1999.
Although it's a game that's not at all memorable I've always been fond of it because it was one of the earliest console games I ever played and so unique because nobody besides my aunt and brother knew about Mission X. I remember even talking about it in school when the kids were talking about their favorite games and I would be like, "Yeah! Crash Bandicoot and Mission X. Wooohooo!"
I actually haven't played the game since I was a kid. A few years ago I found the Intellivion II in my grandmother's attic and it was missing one of the cables and I just never got around to it to buy another one on ebay. Unfortunately, I can't upload any photos of the console or the game because I'm currently living in Spain and most of my stuff is still in the states.
I'm brand spanking new to this forum and have never written on any forum so I thought now would be a good time to start and what better game to start with than Mission X (probably the greatest game of all time and the greatest movie never made )
P.S. A film adaptation of Keystone Kapers starring Ryan Gosling would also be a great.

Awesome review, Balder maybe you can add it to the magic index. Both, ColecoVision and IntelleVison, consoles are still sold in places like Walmart. I've seen them. If anything they are pretty accurate replicas. You mentioned Rage Against The Machine, that was way after the generation of these consoles, which testifies how extended the life of these consoles really is.

I didn't know they still sold them in Walmart! Yeah! From what I remember the Intellivision II never gave me any problems, it always ran well. I'd love to play it again and make a video about it. When I first got the console back in 1999 it was already 17 years old so now it'd be 34 years old. (Lets see if it stands the test of time) I don't know when I'll be back in the states but I'll make a video about it and the few games I have when I can!

One of the reasons I love CGR. I would have never really known about the Intellivision.

One of the reasons I love CGR. I would have never really known about the Intellivision. It's because of the Intellivision that I got into CGR. It was around 2008 and I was reminiscing about the console and I decided to look up videos of it on youtube and found one of Mark's reviews and I've been watching the show ever since.

You've been watching it since 2008. That's impressive. I didn't discover it until 2012-ish. I found it late, but I've become a fan for life.

Yeah but over the last 4 years I missed out on a lot due to college and some life changes but I started rewatching a lot of the old episodes and the new ones to catch up over the past few months.

We all have our phases where we lose interest in things. Right now, I've started to get more into TV series and care less for modern gaming. But I know I will come back into modern gaming eventually. But it won't take me 4 years, probably next month or so.
