I've won't rate this as I haven't played more than a couple of times. Wasn't my type of game at all.

For how much people talk about this game, I thought it was just "ok". Not even close to be as tense/scary as something like Resident Evil Remake, the puzzles are your standard "video game logic" and the story is certainly not even close to be as genious as some reviews make it out to be. Couple it with the terrible acting, and you have a game that is a good survival horror for its time but not much more than that.

I've never played any of the Silent Hill games. Most people say 2 was the scariest game in the series but I never understood what was so scary about Pyramid Head.

All games one to four deserve a remake. The presentation was really cool, and so the settings. If they update them, people that are not used to appreciate games from that time because they were not there will then know how it feels, they will be able to experience what we did back in the day and what a Silent Hill experience represented in our psyque. That said, I only liked the mainline titles, like this one, I always felt the side projects weren't near as good as what Konami did with the numbered releases.

stratogustav - I also think SH 1-4 would benefit greatly from remakes it they were taken proper care, something along the lines of Resident Evil Remake. To bad that last time Konami touched on SH2 was to make it worse - the HD rerelease seems to be a terrible version of the game. Spirit Bomb - I don't see it either. Just so no one thinks I am being too harsh on the game: I like it, I just don't see it as a genious game. I actually remember being more impressed and tense by the first Silent Hill. Balder - Looking at the title... Amnesia: Silent Hill 2. I see what you did there.

By the way, anyone here played the reboot that came out around '08? I never hear anyone talk about it so I assume it sucks. It seems to be long forgotten even by fans of the series.

The other titles are not bad, but never as good as 1 to 4. Cervantes what it is hard to replicate are not the games themselves but the feelings they originally provided. In modern times I feel a game that does it perfectly with its own atmostphere is Resident Evil VII. That's exactly how they felt. Except Resident Evil VII still feels like Resident Evil. Silent Hills had their own vibe. |
