Look here dudes. Star Wars is more than just laser beams and light swords and space ships. It’s also about fun and games and antics and the Star Wars Holiday Special perfectly encapsulates that. You guys are just anti Christmas heathens. Star Wars should have been more restrictive. It's universe has been spoiled by a lot of shit from the EU. And unfortunately, Disney is headed in the same direction, however it is worse, since they are making movies that can never become non-canon. Say what you want about George Lucas' writing, but the man sure knows how to write good storylines. |

He gets way too much flak for other people helping to shape his vision and you can see in the early creative meetings Lucas was a different person writing for ESB and ROTJ. He explained to Larry Kasdan that Yoda is a master, not a warrior. He teaches, but he cannot fight. Kasdan couldn't wrap his head around that. Well that sort of went out the window after 12 years of rabid fan fiction and Expanded Universe stories, and they brought Kasdan back to write 'his' Star Wars. |

This is an absolute Life Day Classic in my book. It's amazing how terrible something can be despite having the entire original cast PLUS Boba Fett PLUS Itchy the gramps. scipioafricanus Who's complaining about Star Wars commercialization? The toys and costumes and merchandising were almost the best part about the movies for me, growing up. |

I never got around to watch this classic until now, and fuck is it something:
"It is one of the most infamous movies ever made, and after having watched it the only thing I can say is: it needs to be seen to be believed. This special is all about Chewbacca trying to come home to his family on Life Day, but the film is mostly about the family waiting for him. To pass the the time we are greeted with some of the most boring and pointless short film segments imaginable. There are music videos of a bamd I have never seen (a real one from what I can tell), an animated adventure with Boba Fett (best part of the whole movie. Han Solo's face is the funniest part in this whole god damn movie), a cooking show and then there is the infamous scene where Chewbacca's dad jacks off while using his brand new VR porn set. This is no joke, he actually watches VR porn (although the porn is softcore and it turns into yet another music video after a while). It had its moments of so-funny-it's-bad, but overall the pacing was garbage and there was way too much filler crap. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are all in this movie, but they are only in it for a couple of minutes unfortunately. This movie feels like an eternity and it feels like it has more endings than The Return of the King." 0.5/5

Never seen it. Now my views on a lot of things are very controversial in that I tend to like things every one else hates and hate thing every one else loves. Just to give you an example, I think Empire Strikes back is the weakest movie in the original trilogy. Not a bad movie, but the weakest from the original three. So keeping that in mind you'd think I would enjoy something like Star Wars Christmas special, but no. This looks like it would be a pain to watch.
