Just found this article which details the increasing prevalence of fetal alcohol syndrome in the united States; it states "no amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy": abcnews.go.com/GMA/Wellness/fetal-alcohol-syndrome-children-10-times-common-experts/story?id=52888084According to the article, recent studies suggest that FAS is far more common than once thought, incidence of the disease is rising, and the symptoms can be much more subtle than initially believed. This especially pisses me off because my mom has always been a drinker. |
