Hey Balder, how do people in Norway feel about George Costanza? I didn't recognize the name before I googled him. I haven't watched much of Seinfeld (it wasn't really my time), but some people have enjoyed, and to this day enjoy it. However it wasn't as big here as in the US.

I just watched Escape from the Planet of the Apes. Did not enjoy it that much.

I just watched Escape from the Planet of the Apes. Did not enjoy it that much. None of the sequels are very good, although I heard the new movies are supposed to be somewhat decent.

The ending still holds up after all these years. I think credit for that has to go to Rod Serling. Planet of the Apes really feels like it could have been an episode of the original Twilight Zone.

I haven't seen the reboot, but James Rolfe has said that the third movie in the reboot is actually on par with the original. And everyone knows that it's extremely rare James likes a sequel/remake over the/on par with the original.

I just watched Conquest of the Apes, and it was incredible. My Letterboxd review:
"This is an extremely good entry to the series, the best since the original. Caesar is such a cool character, I think he actually surpasses Zira and Cornelius. The dystopian future and the rebellion is all awesome. Most of all I love Caesar's progression, how he becomes ruthless by the end. I have heard that there are different endings depending on which version. I saw the Blu-Ray version, which is the darker and more brutal version."

Balder - Nice that you liked one of the sequels. I personally prefer Escape over Conquest, but I think Conquest has some great moments and I agree that Caesar's development as a character is well done.

Saw the last one too. Besides Aldo and Caesar, it was pretty lackluster.

Balder - The last one is completely forgettable. I seriously remember almost nothing of its plot, barely remember what it is about - and I saw it only two years ago. It's still better than 2, but at least 2 is so terrible and random that it sticks to your memory (with the nuclear cult and all). By the way, I haven't talked about the original yet! There's really not much to say; it's just an awesome movie that holds up very well. I saw it as a kid but remembered nothing, so I watched it again (along with the entire classic series) two years ago and it was a great experience. I like that Taylor gets wounded and can't talk during his first contact with the apes; his first phrase ("Take your stinking paws...") is all the more powerful because of it. The judgement is properly absurd, Dr. Zaius is a great vilain, while Cornelius and Zira are great support characters, Nova is hot... The movie has everything, and it really has that "Twilight Zone" feel to it, I just imagine what would be like to watch it without knowing anything about the ending. But even anticipating it, the ending still feels heart wrenching, Heston really sells that scene.

The 3rd one has the least interesting setting I think. It's just intelligent apes in a normal world.

The second one is especially funny since they cast a Charlton Heston look-alike for most of the movie.

I know this isn't a series discussion, but I just saw the remake from 2001. And I just have to say, what piece of fucking shit. I didn't think the series could stoop any lower than Beneath, but this was just outlandish.
