And I just hit the boss fight with Xord in the ether mines. Apparently this is where a lot of people stop playing I will come back to it, but definitely very annoying to hit a stumbling block like this after a few hours. Usually just as I've built the affinity gauge up, someone dies. More than a dozen attempts now so...yeah, time for a break. But oh, the world really opens up to so much more amazing vistas after that. That's definitely good to hear at least

Just another thought. Much as I appreciate that the game lets me teleport and change the time of day quite seamlessly, I wish it offered the same option for turning rain on and off. Cycling over and over through the clock when looking for an enemy that either won't come out when it rains, or only comes out when it rains is getting pretty tedious.

Heh, sort of. From my understanding, they're more or less the point of the Souls games, Bloodborne, and the sub-genre they had spawned. My roommate plays a lot of those...he seems to hate a lot of the games he plays, but he keeps playing them The addiction of doing the same thing over and over again in video games. I can relate with that.

So came back to it the next day, gained another few levels (was at 25, same as the boss, but leveled up to 27), and the boss was cake. I definitely notice that one or two levels make a ton of difference in this game.

Yeah, this game is very strict with that If you try to fight the ogres at the end (I can't remember their names...), you are wasting your time, unless you are at a level 88 or so. There is a 5 level separation in this game that makes it rather restrictive. I hate that, and it seems like they have lightened up on that a bit with the sequels. I think this was a way to force you into doing side quests for leveling up. (I completely forgot about colony 6 until I was 3/4ths of the way through the game.) Once I figured that out, I ended up destroying the last boss of the game while at a level 93 or so. It was insanely easy. People who played the game without leveling up with sidequests said that the end boss was incredibly hard. Keep that in mind with your play through.

Still plugging away. Oddly, despite being a much more open world with different mechanics, I'm getting a lot of Final Fantasy X vibes wandering around. I think both a lot of the music queues, as well as the sort of sparkling mist effects present make the Bionis remind me lot of Spira.

That is kinda true isn't it, now that I think about it... Down to the Tidus-Wakka-Auron dynamic. Heil even the bermuda shorts aren't off limits... (lol)

So I'd taken a break with Xenoblade Chronicles while I was playing Yakuza 0, and I'm finding it fairly tough to dive back in. The music and the epic vistas are still great, but I'm finding the quests to be a bit of slog. I'm just shortly after the party goes to the Eryth Sea for the first time.
Not sure if I'll stick with it. Gravity Rush 2 is calling my name.

I was avoiding this thread because I was afraid of spoilers, but took a risk and... Imperial Khador, we are more or less at the same point (it seems I'm one or two areas ahead). I'm deeply in love with the game, though I won't be playing it for the next few days because of time issues. I didn't have any problem in the Xord fight, though, as I was doing every single sidequest possible and my team was probably at the right level by then. I've crossed the swamp, doing almost every sidequest and got into the next area. It was a pretty fun section, with a lot to explore.

I did definitely like the swamp. It just might be a mood thing. Progressing in a ton of the side-quests seems necessary to being the appropriate level for things, but the side-quests themselves are not very interesting by and large. If I continue playing, I suspect it will be as something I can get away with half-paying attention to. Running around finishing sidequests while I listen to a podcast, etc. It definitely wouldn't be the first game that happened with. Some games work better when I'm multitasking

Imperial Khador - It might help that I'm playing a portable version, so I just play it a bit everyday when I'm going to bed - just exploring the world for a few minutes, doing a few sidequests and maybe trying to advance on the main campaign for a bit. I'm playing it in a very relaxed way, which helps - if it was a game that I was dedicated to (having to sit down and play it more seriously), I see how I could get bored by the sidequests. Except for the last week or so, as I haven't had much time to do anything. I'll see if I can pick up my pace again by the next week.

I just watched a You Tuber called BlunZ play through 1 after beating 2. (I only watched the important cut scenes at the end.) Watching his reactions when big time stuff happened (That's the only way to say it without spoilers..) was awesome. I'm glad other people have experienced it in a similar way that I did. Although, I have played it in order, his reaction was golden. I love this series.

My wife bought me this as a gag gift for Christmas. She hung it up in the kitchen over the sink! I guess we have a conversation piece now. I love it.
