It is probably because it is a large image and it may be hard to load with low speed data, and even then it is not large enough because you can still see the line on the right, I couldn't find a bigger one, that one is that one Centipede gave us.
If I use smaller ones, you will see more of those lines. Let me know if you guys want to come back the way it was before.

Oh, sorry. Were you waiting for a comment on the new wallpaper?
Uh, yes, it's better. This is just some wood-grain image I plucked off Google images and not really made to be a repeating wallpaper.
Hey! Maybe this could work: a sort of a checkerboard look with squares tinted with CGR red and yellow (but not as intense as they were before. The red and yellow before looked like a fat kid's breakfast: Gross! And McDonald's!). Maybe with the CGR smiley and 'CGR' embossed on the squares.

How big does the image have to be? I have an idea for a new background...

And the upper limit for desktop? Hmm, that could be anywhere. Over 1000 high. 2000 even.
What are you thinking? Having a big picture in the background instead of wallpaper? Depends on how well this site does responsive/adaptive design. Because, coding in the CSS file forces the page to use different images for different resolutions.
Otherwise, a tileset wallpaper (like 100 or 200 squared) will be easier to load in general.
