Has nobody gone and seen this? I guess the demand isn't that big because there were only 7 people in my cinema watching it tonight. Anyways big spoilers coming up and my review:
"From the money-hungry conglomerate that brought us classics such as Thor: The Dark World and Song of the South, here comes the movie nobody in the galaxy asked for. Did it deliver? Well if you think a Coca-Cola that has been chilling in the sun while shaken for 2 and a half hours is delivering, then you are in luck. It might not be what you want, but what else is there to consume?
Alden Ehrenreich felt nothing like Han Solo from the trailers, and he does not feel like him the movie either, besides that, he does an okay job. Donald Glover is under-utilized as Lando Calrissian, but is cool. Woody Harrelson as Beckett is the best part of the movie, solid performance and writing with this guy, love him. Emilia Clarke was terrible from the beginning to the end. The marauders were interesting until they revealed their motivations. The movie dropped in quality the moment she took of her mask. Terrible garbage motivations that took so much away from the movie. Every other gangster were basically rip-offs of cooler OT characters, none of which made an appearance (tragic, where are my homeboys Boba Fett, IG-88, Dengar and Bossk?). The sequel bait at the end was just shit. I get that fanservice is important, but teasing Darth Maul was just lame. I thought these movies were supposed to be standalone movies? Why tease us with such a cool character and have him do nothing. This feels more and more like MCU 2.0 to me. Fuck you Disney. The war scenes were pretty great though, it was what Rogue One should have been.
As for the story arc? Well Han Solo is a good guy, then becomes a scoundrel. Why? He became a good guy again in A New Hope. So pointless. The fanservice and references became a little too much a times. Direct quotes are been sprinkled across the movie in non-subtle ways. I love me some subtle references like the Teras Kasi reference, but shit like Lando saying "I hate mining colonies" is so tacked on.
What else is there to say? Soundtrack was meh. There were some cool scenes here and there like the Beckett-Solo showdown and the Kessel Run, but all in all it was like I expected, meh. An average movie, but a bad Star Wars movie. Still, it is better than The Last Jedi. The humor was much better than in that movie, but fuck, what movie has not better humor?" 2.5/5

Didn't see it and don't plan on seeing it. I may be alone in thinking this, but Han Solo is what makes the original Star Wars Trilogy work. Not to say that there isn't plenty of other good stuff about the Star Wars movies, but I think the main cast of characters just wouldn't work that well if it wasn't for Han bringing everything together.

Maybe? I was saying that before The Force Awakens even came out. There has been 3 Star Wars disappointments for me now. My hype for anything Star Wars related died a long time ago. |

I did see it.
I guess they didn't want him to to appear too malicious, but his career as an underworld minion would harden him up somewhat more. Come to think of it, living on that crap hole planet would've hardened him a little more. But back there, he was more like the brave, wide-eyed youngster.
Also: a teenage girl leading a band of rebels all by herself? Really?! At least give her an older mentor whispering into her ear!
Well, I guess we got the Darth Maul movie to look forward to.

I liked it. It was okay. My favourite scene was the train heist.
He took a lot of gambles, didn't he? I swear there was at least one situation he shouldn't have walked away with his life from.
Like, what made him think those mercs would stop flying away without him since they already rejected him and had him thrown in with Chewbacca?

This is what happens when a company gets greedy and pumps out content faster than soupy diarrhea in hopes of making easy money. No Star Wars fan wants that.

This is what happens when a company gets greedy and pumps out content faster than soupy diarrhea in hopes of making easy money. No Star Wars fan wants that. I hope Disney will rethink their strategy, but if I know them they won't stop. This was simply a slight bump in the road for them. |

Donals Glover does a better job at being Lando than Alden Ehrenreich is at being Solo, but still, he's not even close at being as cool as Billy Dee was. Afterall, he's the administrator of a mining facility and dealt directly with Darth Vader himself. |

Back in the day (AKA pre-Disney Star Wars) stories like this were always strictly reserved for novels and graphic novels/comic books. The only reason Disney made this into a film is because 1. they can afford to make huge gambles, and 2. they can merchandise much more with a film that a novel, which brings in extra cash for them. |
