Looking back, what are your thoughts on Captain Planet? Does it still hold up? Favorite episodes? Favorite characters? Favorite villains? What did you like and/or dislike about the show?

I never could get into Captain Planet. I really like the quality of the animation in the intro, but despite watching many episodes as a kid, the intro (as well as the outro) are all I can remember. I don't remember any individual episodes, characters or plots. Then again, I was a very ADHD kid, so maybe that's why?
The messages are good, though, and by today's standards the art direction is good as well, so I suppose it's not a complete loss.
Looking at it now, I think the reason I never really was captivated by the show is because compared to other shows I liked the villains in this one were one-dimensional and cartoony (literally, as in a cartoony design). Also, the titular character is quite possibly one of the unintentionally lamest super heroes of all time, both in terms of look and personality (he looks like an SJW Colossus knock-off).
However, I do feel as though the show has become relevant again since Donald Trump and his crony Scott Pruitt are now in control of the fate of USA's environment and, to a slightly lesser extent, the world's (ahem Paris Climate accord withdrawl ahem).
I ultimately vote 3/5, "average". Not a terrible show, but not really exceptional in any regard.

I remember watching it a few times, I don't think it was a good show because I would at least remember that, I don't even remember a single episode at this point.

A great classic, I love Dr. Blight especially, episodes with her were always the best.
I've even watched some episodes of the new OK K.O. series on Cartoon Network because they had some episodes that were related to Captain Planet and the lovely Dr. Blight.

This show sucked. scipioafricanus - I would say it's the kind of propaganda that makes me want to cut a tree and drive a SUV just out of spite. As a side note, I get the impression, more and more, that the Marvel movies are trying to be exactly like it. |

Thank you Ted Turner for this optimistic bit of 90's cheese. Didn't fix much in the end, except make kids a bit more environmentally aware. But I wonder about the resources it took to make...
It was funny how the villians' only aim was to wreck the environment just for the sake of it.

Just watched the latest AVGN episode and damn was I shocked by the Captain Planet ad. It sounded like it was written by a republican executive. I mean, I know Captain Planet wasn't exactly the coolest show most of the time, but "the worst garbage on tv"? Seriously? WTF was up with that ad?
