So one of the best and most notable features of the Xbox consoles (at least the first two) is the excellent LAN capabilities. The original Xbox popularized LAN play with the release of Halo Combat Evolved, and I'm sure many (or at least some) of our favorite gaming memories are from LAN parties with our friends or family. I used to attend LAN parties with my brother and his friends when I was younger, and it blew my mind. I had never had so much fun with games in all my life! We would play Halo 1 & 2 on their original Xboxs, and even though I sucked at Halo back then, it was still an absolute blast.
So this happy memory got me wondering: do any of you still have LAN parties with your friends? If so, with what Xbox console(s)? And which games? I'd love to know.

I used to have LAN parties every other weekend, but then I moved to go to university, and now I only go to LAN parties 5-6 times a year.
As for games we played: Halo Reach the pinnacle of everything gaming, including the best LAN capabilities of all time.
Ghost Recon 2 we still haven't finished this, but we've been playing it lately on LAN parties. 4 player co-op is a blast.
We also used to play Smite on the Xbox One, but now everyone is tired of it.
Modern Warfare 2 on custom games are just hilarious. Can play that for hours and laugh all the time through. We still play this game every holiday.
Halo 5 was the last game we played at a LAN party, and is probably going to be played some more.
Those are the games we play the most, but we also have played Rainbow Six Vegas, Halo 3/4, Gears of War 3, Empire Earth
And in the future we're going to play the rest of the Ghost Recon series, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Gears of War Judgement and Alien Colonial Marines.

Wait, Halo 5 has LAN support? I thought you told me it had no LAN nor splitscreen capability, Balder . By the way, Balder, do you ever play Halo CE or 2 with friends anymore? Just curious. Hey centipede , where do you live mate? You could come to one of my LAN parties if you want.

Spirit Bomb lol I come from a land far away. A land that uses the metric system and which swelters while you would freeze. Home to some of the most dangerous fauna on the planet and rich in minerals for the taking.

Spirit Bomb Halo 5 doesn't have Local play or split screen, but we get together with our Xboxes and play together over Live, but still in the same room. It makes it like a LAN party just as others. As for Halo 2 and CE, we never played that much Halo 2 in multiplayer but we've had some games in CE every now and then, but mostly Reach as you would've imagined. centipede I'm guessing you're not from Murica, which country do you live in?

Balder I see. Halo 2 is definitely my least favorite of the 3 main Bungie Halo games (not including Reach or ODST, just Halo CE-3). I remember not liking it nearly as much as CE back when I first played it, and looking at it now that I'm a full grown adult, I definitely appreciate it more than I did back then, but it's still my least favorite from a multiplayer perspective. The maps are way too gritty and war torn for my taste, and the vehicles + vehicle physics aren't nearly as enjoyable as they were in CE. Halo 3's maps felt more in the spirit of CE's. Actually, all this talk about CE makes me wish Microsoft had allowed Bungie to make a 5 year anniversary special edition release of CE for the OG Xbox that included all the extra maps exclusive to the PC port and all the various minor enhancements, like all the new weapons from the PC version, the ability to use the banshee in multiplayer, and 2-16 LAN system link support which would be a major improvement over the 2-4 limit of the initial release and would make multiplayer significantly more enjoyable. Had this been released, it would've been the definitive version of CE. Too bad it never happened. Oh well, a man can dream.

Balder What did you think of my idea of a 5 year special anniversary edition of Halo CE for the original Xbox? Don't you think it would've been a really cool idea? I'm sure it would've sold like hotcakes. What do you think?

Me too. It would've been awesome.
Are you also mad that Microsoft discontinued the original Xbox so soon in its lifespan? In my opinion it was the best system they have ever made. The 360 was enjoyable, but the first Xbox will always be my favorite....unless Microsoft outdoes themselves with their future consoles, but I can't imagine that would happen.

Spirit Bomb well I remember when it came out and didn't think much of it since I had both the PS2 and Xbox, then Halo 3 came and it didn't launch for the Xbox. First off I wanted to get the PS3 but Halo wasn't on that platform. And that's when I switchet from loving the Playstation to loving the Xbox, and I've never looked back.

Personally I prefer the 360 to the PS3 as well. I own both, but I never play my PS3.

I owned a PS3 for two hours then I brought it back for a refund. Piece of shit didn't work and I spent two hours in just driving. Lost a little bit of 2nd hand faith that day.
