Does starforce work on windows 10. It's a nasty form of drm and unfortunately its on the game I own called toca race driver 2. www.play-old-pc-games.com/2015/03/28/toca-race-driver-2/ \ I know it works on windows 10 but I don't know if the drm works on windows 10 or not. I figured maybe since its a newer OS and an older game that the drm wouldn't work at all and I could play it just fine which I know I can I just don't know if starforce works or not. If there's a way to remove starforce drm that would be great but I couldn't find anything on removing it when I looked on the internet.

No, it doesn't: Windows 10 introduced some security measures that doesn't accept whatever Starforce tries to do with the system (it is a really nasty DRM after all). The website you linked to recommends to search for a "ToCA Race Driver 2 No-CD patch" on Google; I think that may be your best bet.

I would recommend you to hold on to Windows 7 Pro for as long as you can. When I switched to Windows 10 back in 2015 I regretted it, particularly because of all the extra DRM protection for media in general on Windows 10.

The DRM protection measures with Windows 10 are a mixed bag; most people would agree that Windows 10's incompatibility with Starforce DRM is a very smart move, but its incompatibility with harmless DRM like Safedisc is kinda pointless and more of an inconvenience than anything. I also think it's stupid as hell that Windows 10 doesn't come packaged with the ability to play movies (via physical DVDs) and forces you to pay for that feature. I'm not sure if this is another form of DRM protection (though I doubt it is) but I find it insulting.

I have a bunch of movies that I bought digitally, probably around $2,000 worth, and with Windows 10, I can only play them on my PC. With Windows 7 Pro I was able to remove the DRM losslessly, so the image quality didn't get affected without compromising the files size, and for that many movies you do care about the file size.
I understand I can always pirate the movies, but anything I have found so far doesn't have the same image quality. For example a 1080p original, doesn't look as good as a 1080p pirated, even when both are 1080p. I imagine is because the way they removed the DRM wasn't losslessly.
The only reason why is important for me to remove the DRM is so I can also play those files on no-computer devices, like my Blu-Ray for example, to easily use my home theater. I do have the other option to constantly move my PC because it is a Mini PC, but it is a pain in the ass to connect and disconnect the electric plug and the HDMI all the time. It is much easier to just connect any of my external hard drives to my Blu-Ray and be done with it, but the Blu-Ray will not read digital files with DRM even if it reads those file formats just fine.
With Windows 7 Pro all you had to do is change the file's name and that was it, no loss of data occurred. On the other hand with Windows 10 I need to use capture software, wait the length of the movie to be done, and still lose image quality and sound in the process, while also annoyingly getting a larger file size. It is extremely inconvenient.

Never had any problems playing any of my dvds, but then, I use Media Player Classic (it's free, easy to use and has a lot of great functions, besides reading every single kind of video file) instead of the players that come with Windows. As a general rule of thumb, don't use Windows' standard programs: there are a lot of better, free options online for everything.

I have used Media Player Classic since Matroska video exists. I never looked back. It is the best video player hands down.

MeleeMonk - Over here. I think I've been using it since the middle 2000s, really good player. On a bad note, they announced last year that it won't be updated anymore - not that this is any problem now, but if new video formats get created in the future, we might need to look for a new player. There are other good options, though: I've also used VLC Player in the past and it's pretty good, almost the same thing as Media Player Classic.

Microsoft really did remove Windows Media Center for Windows 10 in favor of an "updated" pay-to-use app that offers the same function of playing DVDs, just like what they did with Microsoft Office. The more and more I read about Windows 10, the more and more I want to track down the CEO of Microsoft and strangle him for his jerk-ass business practices.

I've been thinking about this thread again since there is at least one game I was planning on buying that supposedly uses it: B.R.E.E.D. I say "supposedly" because I am unable to confirm weather or not it uses Starforce DRM myself, as the trusty PC Gaming Wiki (which is where I always go to check this information) doesn't currently have an article on the game! Cervantes have you noticed any other PC games that don't have articles there? I know that you use the PC Gaming Wiki a lot, so I'm curious. At any rate, I'll probably just pirate the game to be safe.

MeleeMonk - A few, mostly indie games. There are also some obscure games that have a page there but the page is empty or have almost no information. By the way, I was just looking there for fixes to Soul Reaver 2 and it definitely helped. That wiki is a great resource.
