I've gotta say I'm really disappointed to see that Cervantes seemingly doesn't care about saving this wilderness. I thought he supported environmental protection as he has proclaimed his love for Miyazaki's environmental films like Naussicca and Princess Mononoke in the past?

I haven't been posting regularly because of a lot of thing to do these past few weeks, but here is my take on the subject: it's sad to see anything being destroyed for a golf course, but the responses in this thread are so hilarious that I just have to give likes to these posts. I mean, a golf course spanning the entire USA? What's not to like about it? I also love the idea of taking trees from reservation areas and planting them in the middle of the desert, that should the first solution to any problem ever.

I’d like to make a proposal. Let’s turn all of America’s National parks into golf courses and make it so poor people can’t play on them.

In response to Dan's above post: how could they create "lush greenery" in an area that is naturally arid? Where would they get the water to irrigate it? One of the many problems that would result from this ecological catastrophe known as Coyote Springs. These are great questions and I'm glad you asked them. 1. Water. 2. Rivers. We're going to build a big, beautiful dam. The biggest dam, probably ever. No longer will our precious Colorado River - and it's a really great, very WET river, folks - no longer will it just flow into California. It's just flowing over there and no one's stopping it. But I'm going to stop it. The Californians are taking our water, they're taking our beautiful river, and we're getting nothing. I look at it and I said, are we really getting nothing for all of this clean water? I couldn't believe that our river operators could be so stupid! But not anymore. We're going to build a dam - and I know how to build dams, believe me. And California is going to pay for the dam.

I stumbled upon a eerily similar story from Utah just now:
This community in southern Utah made the same mistake that Harvey Whitmore did by building a golf resort in the middle of the desert. Fun fact: Utah is the driest state in the USA. So they want to build a $2 billion water pipeline that would siphon water from the Colorado River just to water their measly golf course. This story and Coyote Springs should be used as proof to other countries that americans aren't qualified to own or manage land.
Considering this community is in ultra-conservative Utah, though, I'm not surprised that this project was actually greenlight and finished, unlike Coyote Springs.
