Technically he can't die if they want to make two more sequels, so when he comes back in the next movie, it is going to feel supernatural the how did he survive that fire trap on the last movie.
They can always build on that. After all the last movie was a direct sequel to the 1978 movie, so it basically ignores every movie after that.

That's what i mean, they're ignoring the original series and making Michael resemble more of a real life psychopath and less like the supernatural entity he was in the original series which is exactly what i didn't like about this version of Michael. But put Michael to one side, I just didn't like the pacing of the movie and just didn't buy Laurie Strode's story of how she gave up on her life to dedicate her time for Michael's second coming by spending the last 40 years building a dungeon to trap Michael. Her story in H20 was far more believable where the events of the first movie has left her scared and paranoid, but she went on to live a normal successful life with a family. Any way i know i sound like i'm bashing the 2018 movie but i'm not, i'm just trying to express my disappointment for to me it was disappointing waiting for a movie for years and not getting what you expected. Over all i did like the movie , especially the first half. It's a good movie, but could of been a lot better imo.

I feel like it's very hard to make it any better because at this point we have seen pretty much everything there is to this character. In a way I wish the Halloween franchise would've stuck to its guns and become an anthology franchise like Halloween 3 was trying to do. Unfortunately Halloween 3 wasn't the best way to try to start an anthology series with.

Making a movie better doesn't necessarily mean giving us something new about the characters. The trailer for the movie was amazing as was the first half of the movie. It's not hard giving the movie a good pace or making a characters actions make sense. I'm actually a big fan of Halloween 4,5,6 and the first Rob Zombie remake and thought H20 was pretty good also. Would of been interesting to see what the anthology would of turned out like but it is what it is. It would of also been great if George Lucas filmed star wars episode 1,2 and 3 before 4,5 and 6.

That would be fine, but I'm actually looking forward for both scheduled sequels, I thought the 2018 version was alright. I like that they are building on the original 1978 movie, I didn't care much for the other sequels, but maybe if I watch them I'll change my mind.
