These week, at the request of Balder, we are going to discuss jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn, the mentor to Obi Wan Kenobi who first appeared in Episode 1: I guess since Balder is such a scruffy nerf-hearder when it comes to Star Wars lore, he can only handle talking about the most mainstream Star Wars characters. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Nevertheless, what do you guys think of Qui-Gon Jinn? Was he an interesting, powerful, or well-developed character in your opinion? Discuss.

Today on The Maestro channel: "I'm just going post a suggestion of my own and then tell people that Balder suggested it, but not before I berate him first for not liking my other suggestions. Why is no one sending suggestions? Anyways, Qui-Gon Jinn has a green lightsaber, and the environment likes green, so he's an obvious 5/5. Now I'm going to go over the driving appreciation thread and post things not related to driving such as public transportation and walking. Checkmate driving enthusiasts. Score for the environment."

I think Master Jedi is a pretty cool guy. Eh cheats at dice throwing and doesn't afraid of anything, especially midichlorians. 6/5

Don’t bitch. You’re the one that suggested Qui-Gon.

It's too bad he died so soon, but I guess it had to be done for rhyming purposes. The Jedi Council needed more members like Liam Neeson. It would have made a more interesting dynamic with Anakin and having a rebel Jedi as a teacher might have better explained why Skywalker was so willing to consider the Sith. He should have at least come back as a Force Ghost.

I'm sure Disney can find a way to bring Schindler back.

I wanted to see more of him telling to jedi council to fuck themselves, but at least he died in possibly the best lightsaber duel in the series. I also like his design as well and think Neeson was a great pick for the character.

He was the one true Jedi to carry out the will of the Force. As he was the first who managed to retain his consciousness after. Without him Yoda, Obi, and Hayden would never have managed becoming spirits...
The rest were republic pawns who died like the dogs they were.

scipioafricanus Qui-gon was right though, Anakin did bring balance to the force. He just exterminated almost the entirety of the jedi to do it. Don't get so hung up on the little things.

I never understood why he fought calm and level headed like a jedi and failed miserably, while his less experienced disciple was all angry and stuff (like a jedi shouldn't be) and yet cut the villain in half with ease.
Huh, I guess the jedi order was wrong about a lot of things.

(my belated 2 cents on Qui Gon):
I'm actually glad Balder suggested that we discuss Qui Gon Jinn this week, since I've coincidentally been thinking about him as a character a lot recently. In my opinion Qui Gon is by far the most interesting human character introduced in the prequels as well as my favorite mainstream prequel character. Characters like Count Dooku and Mace Windu were pretty cool but Qui Gon is the only new character who I felt truly had dimension. Both Liam Neeson's acting and the character of Qui Gon felt really meaningful and wise, and felt like a precursor to Obi Wan's character in A New Hope. I would go as far to say that Qui Gon's character was better written and acted than Obi Wan's was throughout all the prequels (Ewan McGregor often felt far too proper and silly in Episode 2 and 3).
Great character. I rate 5/5.
