Nope. If you actually had made the effort to read that BBC article that I mentioned in my other thread, you would have learned that India's coal usage has plummeted in the last few years, and is being replaced by wind and solar power, which are both cheaper and easier to maintain than coal, gas or oil. Here's the link again so you can read for yourself: www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-52614770The only country that has increased coal usage in recent time is the USA. You hear that, scipioafricanus ? No matter how much you try to cover it up, everyone that isn't a nationalistic american bigot knows that the US has done jack-shit to reduce carbon emissions. Scipioafricanus is just a retarded clown, though, so I don't even know why I bother debating with him. Oh, and Balder did you hear on the world news a while back that India is in the process over planting over a million trees in an effort to fight climate change? That's WAY more than most countries are doing about climate change. Don't be a pig. Give credit where it's due. India is also the second biggest country in terms of population. So it'd be interesting to compare how many trees they plant per citizen to other countries. Well I know for sure that India could plant way more trees than the US could. Do you want to know why? It's because in America there is so much private land ownership that it's impossible for large-scale reforestation projects to happen. Much of the land here is owned by either corporations or individual citizens. With India, not only is a much greater percentage of its land controlled by the government, but India also has an extremely high population density, WAY higher than the US. So this combination of government power and absence of over-developed space makes it easy for India to carry out reforestation projects. The only way forest restorations could happen in the USA, the wealthiest and most conservative country on the planet, is if citizens willingly donated their land to the government, but that will never happen given the extreme greed and ignorance of American citizens.

I was riding home from work last night on my moped and I saw a red-hot meteor streaking down from the starry sky. Lucky me! It was a beautiful moment. It's a shame that I (like most people) can't normally see meteors because of the severe light pollution in towns and cities.
Pollution ruins everything.

The caronavirus pandemic is predicted to send first world countries into recessions, which means carbon emissions will fall as a result of less airline travel, petroleum usage, and so on!! AWESOME!!!!! Nothing like a good disease outbreak to keep mankind down! Fuck off with that insensitive bullshit. People are literally dying and losing their savings, and all you can think off is that we drive snd fly less now? Things like lowering carbon emissions fixes itself when the world progresses, this virus will only set us back. A recession is incoming and it's going to suck. *sigh* Balder, if you're still in denial about the severity of climate change compared to disease outbreaks like covid-19 (which only affect human beings in the short-term), do yourself a favor and watch this: I tried to explain this to you months ago. Covid-19 is a temporary setback in regards to economics and human welfare, but climate change is harming EVERYTHING, not just our economics and welfare, but also the agriculture industry, our oceans, our coastlines, our coastal cities, the Earth's flora, Earth's fauna, the weather, etc. And unlike covid-19, there's no known cure for man-made climate change. The only way to completely stop it would be to cease human-related burning/combustion on a global scale, something that is nigh-impossible. And no, ZCE vehicles like the Tesla Cyber Truck won't stop climate change because they can only reduce carbon emissions, not cancel them out, since the factories that make them have to produce lots of greenhouse gas in order to make them. Even green energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines have to be manufactured in factories before they can yield ZCE energy. You're such a naive, ignorant, ill-informed, insignificant speck of dust, Balder. When will you learn?

In fact, I think I more selfless than you are. I don't go around telling people what to do. As long as it doesn't bother me, you can do whatever you want for all I care. One thing that has become apparent to me the last couple of years is how left wing politics are basically stated as truth in the school system and on the internet, while right wing politics are only dumbasses and selfish people. It's totally cool to say that you follow a political party or whatever, but there are some opinions out there that are legit to vote for, but if you ever say you voted for those opinions, you're immediately marked. As a substitute teacher I've been to arrangements set up by the school that lean heavily towards extreme left wing political ideas and they're represented as facts. This to me is extremely dangerous. Why should we ever groom someone to follow an ideology if we think it's the best choice already? People should be taught to think critically, not served what we think is best. Over the past few years I've come to the realization that even though leftists say that they want the best for everyone, they too are just in it for themselves. People vote for things that'll benefit them personally, so why shouldn't I at this point? People don't give a fuck about the things I care for. Just last year, Norway cut all the ways normal people could import personal use items. Now we have to pay tolls and taxes on everything. This, along with your comments about how you were glad I couldn't drive to school were the two things that shattered my image about the political landscape. People like you are extremely jealous about people who have things you don't have. You smoke? You gotta pay extra taxes on top of sales tax. You drink alcohol? You pay extra taxes. You drive gas powered cars because you can't afford an EV? Extra taxes for you. There shouldn't be sin taxes, and even though I don't smoke, I still wouldn't want people to pay extra taxes on their goods. That's selflessness. I'm not that jealous of a guy that I want everyone else to be miserable. So when you call me an misinformed, naive, ignorant degenerate, you only serve to polarize me from everything you stand for. You're going to continue to make everything worse for people you disagree with, then I'm just going to continue doing things in my own self-interest. My self-interest doesn't have to be selfish though. I recycle paper, cans, plastics, glass and bio. I don't drive a fuel efficient car and don't use it in excess. I've cut down the amount of meat I eat. Never do I litter or pollute the environment directly. I work, pay taxes and I'm a productive member of society. But do not think for one second I'll give up my benefits just because a jealous piece of shit like yourself tells me I'm a bad person.

Great. So the Maestro has basically given us a free pass to do anything since it doesn't matter if we can't stop our inevitable doom.
In all seriousness though, I'm an optimist in saying that we'll get through this. Human ingenuity will conquer almost anything we set our minds to, but here's the kicker, we need to make the world a better place by getting more people in poor countries educated and from that alone over-population will stabilize and then decrease and so will emissions. Better technology and practices will make the world a better place.

That wasn't my point. What I was getting at is that ZCE vehicles & energy sources alone aren't enough to stop climate change BECAUSE so long as materialistic people keep buying loads of materialistic shit like game accessories, electronics, car accessories, TVs, furniture, laptops, etc. everyday as well as consuming unsustainable food products like meat, dairy, & palm oil everyday then carbon emissions will continue to rise. Basically, I was saying that stopping climate change requires willpower on behalf of the people of planet earth. Technology only goes so far. Remember, technology is the REASON man-made climate change ever became a thing to begin with; before the industrial revolution, man's impact on Earth's climate was insignificant. Technology has enabled people to destroy the atmosphere.

They can't stand people having nice things or doing things they don't enjoy. They always want to tax the hell out activities and commodities they don't partake in or consume. I never said I blamed third world countries for climate change, but there's a huge challenge we face in these countries since their technology is often more polluting. America is a weird country in terms of first world countries since they do use a lot of outdated power plants such as coal. Coal is used a lot in these developing countries as well. Take a look at Norway. We're a first world country and 99% of our power comes from renewable and clean energy. We don't have a single coal nor gas power plant. Had we not been in a comfortable place, I'm sure we'd use fossile fuels too just like third world countries do, and that's exactly my point. Countries have to get comfortable before they give a damm about the environment. The aluminum factory I work at produces the most pollution effective aluminum in the world. Why? Because there's a huge focus on environmental issues in Norway since we live comfortably enough. I'm sure there are other European countries as well that has similar cases. In general (broadly) the less developed a country is, the less thet xare about pollution.

Since most material things are recycled, why shouldn't we buy things? Do you know how capitalism works? If we stopped buying things society wouldn't function.

Just to find a Third World example, I was looking at El Salvador regarding this, and apparently in 2020 85% of their energy is now renewable, and clean, which is a massive improvement because only 3 years ago it was 58%, and the rest was fossil.
Their main sources are solar, hydropower, and geothermal since they have volcanos. The other 15% that is non renewable, and non clean, comes from a contract they have to fulfill with Guatemala, where they are buying that 15%, but once that goes, they can be at 100%, and they are already building a wind park to get closer to 100% using wind energy too.
Capital is global now, and the opportunities are no longer exclusive. I mentioned this before, but with the advancement of technology where now literally everyone has access to the Internet, and even the poorest of the poorest carry smartphones in underdeveloped countries, that gap between opportunities have almost disappeared.
U.S. companies such as Google, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, etc., are now making possible for anyone in the world, regardless of where they live to have the tools necessary to obtain access to wealth, and the World will be changing more and more because of this in just a few years, as it is already changing now, and it has been in this direction for a while.
These are interesting times where calamity can occur, but also are very promising times in terms of what capitalism can continue to do for the World, eliminating the levels of poverty more and more, globally.

This is exactly what I'm getting at. El Salvador has probably had lots of improvements and developments in just a few years and now it's radically different. The fact that it's in a good location for renewable energy sources also makes it easier for them. I'm sure there are many small nations such as this that will attain a clean energy profile in the coming years.

>"Just between you and me..." > Posted on a public forum for all to see. But, yeah. It's just him spouting his angst, as usual.
