I don't care about fandoms of things that I'm not interested in. But I used to be part of PSO-World forum and the people there, in general, are kind of salty.

Maybe not video games fandoms in particular, but in terms of fandoms in general there have been many that I didn't like at some point.
I used to dislike the Magic cards fandom, also the Pokemon cards fandom, and the Pokemon RPG games fandom, also the Pokemon show fandom, and the fandom of Pokemon related games.
In fact at some point I didn't like the Smash series because it had Pokemon characters, and they were important in the game.
I also use to dislike anything related to liking MMOs, MOBAs, or MMORPGs. It's not that I did not like the people, I just didn't like that they liked those things.
I now have moved on from that though, and I even own Pokémon RPG games on my New 3DS XL, and I own all the Pokémon Amiibos for Smash, but I still don't watch the show, or follow the lore.
I also didn't like Harry Potter fandom at all, Twilight movies fandom, Fifty Shades Of Grey fandom, or Hunger Games fandom.
I also didn't like the One Piece fandom, the Naruto fandom, the Attack On Titan fandom, and the Call Of Duty fandom.
Now I actually accept all those things, but a few years back I didn't like that.
The only fandoms I was actually cool with was The Lord Of The Rings fandom, and the Star Wars fandom. They never bothered me, and considering all the fandoms I didn't like they should have, but somehow they didn't.
I think Star Wars never bothered me because I used to own all the toys as a kid, and The Lord Of The Rings never bothered me because it reminded me of Zelda.
Zelda fandom is actually pretty hated today. I don't collect or buy Zelda related things besides a GameCube controller I have for the Wii U, and a protective case for the New 3DS XL, but I actually like that fandom.

Can we all agree that the GTA fandom sucks dick? I've noticed a grating trend with this franchise. When San Andreas came out, Vice City fanboys cried that it killed the franchise, for whatever reason. Then when GTA IV came out, San Andreas fanboys blasted it into oblivion for bullshit reasons like "ruining" the driving, having less variety (even though an enormous amount of hard work was clearly put into designing a new game engine from scratch, since San Andreas looked dated even for its time), etc. THEN when V came out, fans of the previous games shat all over it and denounced it as the worst game in the series; don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are some valid complaints about the game (I've heard nothing good about GTA Online), and as someone who hasn't played it, it doesn't look as interesting to me as IV or SA, but there still seems to be a lot of fun to be had with it.
As a big fan of San Andreas and GTA IV it genuinely annoyed me when I had to put up with all the nay-sayers when they were still new on the market (you wouldn't BELIEVE the amount of shit IV got back in the day). I guess this is what happens whenever a franchise gets so huge and mainstream. GTA just seems to be one of the worst examples of this within the world of video games. It has one of those fandoms that seems like one giant flame war, but for no good reason.

Didn't we have a thread like this once? Anyways, I've noticed one thing that a lot of shit fandoms have in common. It's when people edit or bite off of memes to insert their garbage characters. Of course every fandom is gonna have at least one of these guys, but when you notice a trend of people posting and reposting this annoying shit outside of their respective fan forums/threads, that's a red flag.

Oh God, that is so damn cringe worthy. As a Xeno nut, the forums I'm in has a bunch of these guys. It embarrasses me, to tell you the truth. That and the rule 34 guys. Sometimes, those guys are one in the same. Whether it is a tame game like Valkyria Chronicles, or anything in between, I have to be careful about scrolling through the feed when I'm around people.

I'm tempted to add the Deus Ex fandom to the list of fandoms that I hate the most; on one hand you have Human Revolution/Mankind Divided fanboys who have absolutely no respect for the first two games by Ion Storm or all the mechanics from them that Edios removed in HR & MD. Then on the other hand you have OG Deus Ex (as in, the 2000 original PC classic) fanboys who still to this day stop at nothing to absolutely TRASH Invisible War even if it means outright spreading blasphemies about it, almost as if they haven't played it. One thing that really pisses me off is when these gamers trash IW's physics engine, considering it was arguably the best pre-Half Life 2 physics engine on the market. I can confirm that the common criticism of IW's physics being "floaty" is not true 95% of the time.

Two more additions to my list:
-The Rareware fandom. Microsoft didn't kill Rareware, their cancerous fandom did. If fans had actually bothered to buy Perfect Dark Zero and Banjo Kazooie Nutz N Boltz, then Rare would probably be in way better shape (financially) today.
-The Last of Us fandom. Anyone who sends employees death threats over a lousy video game sequel needs to be admitted to a psych ward.

To be fair, people sending threats to the voice actress in the game isn't the best thing. If it is true, of course.

Shit like that is always inexcusable, but to be fair, those people never represents the fans. Blaming the fans is usually a lame excuse for a shitty product. Disney were quick to blame the fans when people hated the new Star Wars movies and always brought up the example of people sending threats to the actors. It's awful, but it doesn't change the fact that their product sucked ass.

Here's another no-brainer that I somehow forgot to mention: The Streets of Rage fandom. Anyone who has a correct number of chromosomes SHOULD know that Streets of Rage 3 has superior art direction, gameplay depth, gameplay speed, difficulty level, storytelling, ect. amongst the original 3 Megadrive games, and yet for some reason most "gamers" claim that 2 is objectively the best entry in the series. Several of these "gamers" even have the audacity to say that 3 is the worst SoR purely because of its wildly inferior soundtrack, so they claim.
So with this said, it's no wonder to me why SoR 3 flopped commercially and why the beat-em-up genre started regressing immediately after its release, barring a few exceptions down the road like Guardian Heroes, Viewtiful Joe, etc.
The fact that there are fans out there who think SoR 4 is better than 3 just goes to show how contaminated this fandom is by stupidity and mainstream casual filth.
