I feel like you're reaching a lot here stratogustav. Telling me that all these generic tropes in action movies are actually deep and meaningful. If the white guy was so important, why did the filmmaker try to edit him out? This movie is heavily criticized for its portrayal of Bruce Lee by a lot of people. And most importantly, it's not rated well anywhere by critics and the general public alike. It's completely fine that you lile this movie, but telling me I simply don't understand it because I'm European is just wrong. I'm quite aware that context is very important to some movies, but this isn't one of them.
I'm not surprised if people without a context would criticize the movie in the wrong ways. I addressed each of your points, and just because you deny that you don't have the context for it, it doesn't mean you do.
The way you wrote your review clearly explains you were completely out of context. Maybe it is not entirely because you are European, but it sure does sounds like it. For the following points:
1. The white guy isn't relatable to you, despite he being like the average American in California, he portrays exactly the way someone behaves here.
If the director wanted to edit him out I'm sure is because he realized that unless you live in California many people won't find him as relatable, like other Universal archetypes of apprentices people are used to see in movies that try to be universal, and do not accurately portray the simplicity of a young guy living here that likes stuff, and wants things.
2. You think taxing business by gangs isn't a real thing, or that many communities don't deal with it at a regular basis, when gang members do this all the time, not just in bad areas of cities like LA, but all over Latin America.
3. The fact that you were surprised about Bruce Lee behavior isn't because you are European, but it still means you are out of context by not being familiar with him being known for acting like that around here.
Like I said, just watch Quentin Tarantino's latest movie, he portrays him with the same sense of superiority traits because that's how he was known among many people.
A lot of people are a fan of him, me included, so they simply don't want to hear it, but it is what many said about him, and like I said, it makes perfect sense because those are the attributes that would make someone like him stand out and get ahead in this kind of Hollywood environment.
I think I did mention other things, but that's already enough for clarifying why you end up with the wrong conclusions, at least that's how your review made it sound.
