Yeah man, I saw this. It is pretty cool they are bringing him over. I can't wait for the Amiibo either which is pretty much guaranteed after this announcement, maybe next year.

Terry Bogard in a smash game. Wouldn't of imagined it in a thousand years. Didn't know Sakurai ws a big SNK fan and it shows from his passion for the characters and snk history. I love that intro.

This roaster addition pretty much sums up modern Smash perfectly: a clusterfuck-juxtaposition of video game characters that have absolutely nothing to do with each other or Nintendo. They might as well through in Master Chief and Gordon Freeman, because at this point it literally would make just as much sense as additions like Solid Snake and Joker from Persona.
Shit like Smash Ultimate is the cancer killing the fighting game genre. It should not be marketed as a fighting game.

I could see why die hard smash fans may not like all these outside characters coming into the game, but this is what smash has evolved to and many like my self think it's really cool to have Terry, Ryu, ken and Cloud as playable characters although i always preferred the Nintendo characters in smash with Sheik being my favourite.

I'll take Capcom Vs SNK 2 over Smash Ultimate any day. It let's you pit Terry Bogard against Ryu, but doesn't slouch on the fighting mechanics AND is a more focused tribute to the guest franchise than the recent Smash games, which are basically the party game equivalent of a video game melting pot. There's really no comparison, and personally I would never even mention crossover fighters like Capcom Vs SNK 2 in the same sentence as Smash Ultimate. I've also heard good things about SvC Chaos on Neo Geo even though I haven't played that one.

Smash Ultimate surpassed Melee from the launch, it removed it from major tournaments, and substituted it competitively, it is also the best selling fighting game of all time, surpassing Street Fighter II. It goes to show how important roasters are for people.

Smash Ultimate surpassed Melee from the launch, it removed it from major tournaments, and substituted it competitively, it is also the best selling fighting game of all time, surpassing Street Fighter II. It goes to show how important roasters are for people. Firstly, the population making up today's E-sports scene is completely different than the competitive fighting game community from the late 90s and early 2000s (when Melee came out). Street Fighter III, MvC, MvC 2, Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur 2 and SSB Melee are still regarded as having among the most challenging and technical fighting mechanics in the fighting game genre; then, fast forward to the year 2008, which was seen as the first major decline for the fighting game genre, with SSB Brawl, Street Fighter IV and Soul Calibur IV being released that year and all received intense scrutiny from longtime fighting game fans for streamlining or outright removing most of the game mechanics featured/introduced in their predecessors, as well as slowing down the gameplay. And 2008 was over ten years ago; the gamers who make up 2019's tournament scene for modern fighting games were largely introduced to the fighting game genre through those blockbuster stinkers from 2008 (Brawl, SF IV and Soul Calibur IV), which they were raised on. Secondly, these days big-name tournament organizers like EVO only care about sales and modern titles because they are under financial pressure from publishers like Capcom, Namco, Tecmo and Nintendo to exclusively feature their latest titles. This is why legendary fighters like Melee and SSF 2 Turbo were phased out of tournament listings in favor of their successors, despite the former still being revered to this day for its challenging gameplay mechanics and depth. You yourself have admitted that Brawl was your introduction to the Smash series and that you still have never played Melee, so you don't have much credibility on the Smash series.
