My favorite of the prequels, and also my favorite Star Wars movie besides the Originals. I feel the theme of the prequels really get together here. All of the Obi-Wan/Anakin stuff is fantastic and the Clone Wars stuff is also fantastic. It has the best lightsaber duel in all of Star Wars, nothing gets close to it. The ending is very somber, but the last note is very optimistic, and I think it ties everything together perfectly. The Darth Sidious Yoda battle is also one scene that comes to mind that is very fun to watch. Love this movie. 5/5

To me, this is the best of the prequels. It isn't a great Star Wars movie, but at least I felt some emotion while watching it. I actually felt like Anakin was desperate, and he was being manipulated by the desire to keep his loved one from dying. I actually sympathized with him. The love story wasn't bull shit like the second one. The opening sequence was exciting when I first saw it in the theaters. The story moved at a decent pace. The death of the Republic and of the Jedi Order was genuinely a sad thing, and it really did feel like a Shakespearean tragedy. I hated the bitch move at the end over the high ground and low ground, though. Anakin is pompous, but that was just plain stupid. It wasn't believable enough for me. It was cool to see how he was brought back to Darth Vader, though.

This is my least favorite movie of the prequels. For me it goes: Episode I > Episode II > Episode III However Episode III had some good acting pieces that I really like. For example I like the scene when Palpatine is at the theater and Anakin shows up confused not knowing what to do. I can relate with Palpatine there because I have been in that situation many times, like the way he keeps his cool, and word things in his favour, making it look nonchalant. To be fair many of those girls when they get close to you like that already want to be with you regardless of their current relationships, all they need is for you to give them permission, reassurance, and take the weight from their shoulders, so they can feel free to act. So what you do is you take baby steps. You don't want to make them feel like a slut, your goal is to make them feel like things happened without plans, the key phrase is "one thing lead to another", and eventually you can have them face down on your bed so you can do as you please. It is a very rewarding feeling. Palpatine did exactly that with Anakin, but to get him to join the dark side. If you put attention, he didn't even have to trick him. Deep inside Anakin was already feeling the dark side, and he wanted to explore it, all Palpatine did is make the walk easier. I also liked the lightsaber battle with Obi Wan. It was very interesting because they both attack from above moving forward, so it was basically a mirror match, like choosing Ken versus Ken in Street Fighter, or Ryu versus Ryu. Obi Wan was only able to win because he got the higher ground, and Anakin was cornered with the lava. We also saw the fight style of Palpatine, and how he as Sith can also give some hell, to the point that he even forced Yoda to retire. It also makes perfect sense why Rey fighting style in The Force Awakens was all Palpatine. It's like dogs hiding bones underground, no one teaches them that, they just have it in their genes. Props to J.J. for giving us those hints early on. I also like how Luke's adoptive father was the kid from The Sixth Sense. The ending was really cool too.

This is quite a divisive movie. Apparently so. I thought most people prefer this movie over the rest of the prequels.

This was my favorite of the prequels but I didn't love it either. Not sure if I'd give it a 3 or 4.
I think I'll give it a weak 4.

I think I'll just swooce right in and give this a 4. John Williams did some of his best work on this movie. Hayden Christensen delivered only a marginally better performance than ep2 overall, but he had some strong moments. At least he looks the part as both a troubled jedi, and later, a sith consumed by evil. We even got some good chemistry between Anakin and Obi-wan throughout the movie. The beginning part when they were storming Grevious's ship had some good banter weaved into the action. In a lot of ways, this movie feels like a return to form after the last two missteps (possibly three if you didn't like ep6).
I think the one thing that prevented this movie from being looked upon more fondly was that Anakin's turn to the dark side only really works within Lucas' world. Anyone who isn't too familiar with Star Wars lore and how the light and dark side of the force work in these movies are going to be left scratching their head as to how Anakin went from weeping over slaying Mace Windu, to killing kids in droves and choking out his pregnant wife. Ep3 did a good job building up to the pivotal moment where Anakin joins the Emperor, but made a mess of things after.

Yeah, that scene where he murders all the kids is one of the most horrible things to watch in movies. It is is traumatizing to say the least, I would say it is more messed up than watching all the Saw movies back to back, even if they don't show the actual murdering. It wouldn't surprise me if people were shocked how he went so dark so fast initially.

I think most be are okay watching that scene.

Not for me, I have young brothers, and the way the front kid got scared when Anakin pulled the light saber really got to me because those kids were innocent, and worse, Anakin was their hope, they were happy to see him, and he just murdered them.

Try watching Faces of Death and come back to me and still say Star Wars is harder to watch.

Try watching Faces of Death and come back to me and still say Star Wars is harder to watch. I may give it a try, but keep in mind I have seen many Saw movies, and I still think that scene was worse. I've seen several of the Saw movies as well, but Faces of Death is by far the worst I have seen.
