Evidently it's holding steady at around 8.5K, has been for these past several months. Still in the 100K per year range though. Have to admit, seeing him recreate the arcade, with the transparency of the entries on challenges he faces maintaining the business, as well as the general effort he puts into it - does sort of gradually rebuild trust in the guy... He has still forsaken us though. How did you lose your trust in him?

Balder I don't want to speak for leaon79s, but I'll do it anyway. If only to maintain my presence here. I think that seeing just how business-minded CGR really is has left a bad taste in leaon's mouth. People like to think that creators can get off on just creating great stuff for us and damn the income (Inecom, lol).

As a fellow proponent of the Mark II CGR website, I can certainly understand the poor aftertaste leaon is experiencing. It's not that any of us don't want to see Lord Karnage reign supreme; oh no, I myself admitted I would pledge my support... conditionally: sustenance of the CGR web-ship. Yeah, I do appreciate these forums and all but there was something niche about the old school site that hasn't been replicated here. The vault pages were a community in and of themselves, Space Gar was an epic trilogy and the site organization served to provide a comprehensive database of video games and their reception from a group of like-minded individuals. Letting the site go after all that work was really a slap in the face for us faithfuls that linger hoping for it to one day resurface. One can still muse at the possibility

Yeah I totally see all your points. It's a shame the old site went. I don't see why it would be that expensive to maintain.

Necromancing this thread!
While CGR's Patreon is still one of the most successful ones, it lost a lot of steam through the latest months. We are under 8k now, so much lower than what Mark initially asked to keep it as his full-time job. While this worries me a bit, I'm glad that the MUSHA Kickstarter was such a success, so it should compensate for the lower Patreon performance at least for some time.
Seeing how much content Mark has been putting out lately and how this content got better (longer reviews and edited commentaries instead of WhoDefeatz or raw gameplay footage), I thought his Patreon would attract more people now than in previous months. Maybe people will notice the better content and come back with time?

The podcast is worth it alone.

If Mark gives up and calls it a day just because the Patreon support went down a bit below his monthly goal, I'd be disappointed.
And I'd demand he give me his Xbone immediately as retribution.

I think moving from the previous huge Space Arcade was a way of guaranteeing that the show won't need 10k to sustain itself (the new place, being much smaller, must be much cheaper to maintain), so I don't think he will give up - he hasn't even expressed any worries about it, and he has been pretty open about things like this on his Patreon posts. Now, what bugs me is: what happened to his other arcade machines? I mean, only the Neo Geo is there. I hope he still has them.

He made a good call by switching up the CGR high roller club to only shout them out after game reviews and not after every video. I also agree that finding a way to convert the Who Defeatz into actual well-spoken debates between game consoles was a smart move.
I think where the public gets lost (and even me sometimes) are all the revenue streams he currently collects through: Patreon, Kickstarter, merchandise, ad-revenue and to top it off, people send him games (not attacking this by any means, I mean I love seeing him review what I send).
I love CGR but I also have a budget and have to be reasonable about which avenues I'm going to support him through, especially considering how much I invested into CGR in the past three years already.

He has still a much better income than most other patreon campaigns similar to his.

and to top it off, people send him games Right. Mark makes mad money (say that three times fast!) and gets games for free. Best job ever.

So the podcast is now confirmed to be wrapping up. That is really a shame. He's going to end it on 12, which means there's only 3 left. He doesn't think the podcast is selling so well, but it was the podcast which made me go to the 5 dollar pledge, now I'm not too sure if I want to keep it that high. Also YT viewers is getting slain by making the "Hyper reviews! just a fraction of what they are on YT. I feel like he's going to alienate a lot of people by doing so.

I think I'll probably be keeping to the $10 level, but I'll re-evaluate based on what happens in the new year.
I can sort of understand why Mark might be going this way. It is certainly possible that he'll alienate some Youtube-free-only viewers by reintroducing Hyper reviews and shortening the Youtube reviews. On the other hand, if those people aren't contributing to the continuation to the business, then I can see why he'd ignore their preferences.
I'll be interested to see how CGR changes over the coming year.

The podcast is his main selling point to me.

I'll definitely be sad to see the podcast go. The odd thing is, most Patreons that I support because of a podcast, became popular as a publicly available podcast first, and then started with a Patreon (or other listener-based/crowdfunding efforts). I know Mark has put clips of it up on Youtube, but I don't actually know how much of an audience they've driven over to Patreon.
