I was actually thinking of writing a Phantasy Star (the very first) screenplay. But, with all the woke "feminist" controversy coming out of Hollywood and its critics, it probably would've been bastardized anyway, as if contains one of the very first female video game protagonists: Alis Landale.

The entire idea of cinematic universes suck. I hate it. Either do a good movie, or a good movie with some sequels. Maybe throw in some easter eggs to other franchises. But please god, no cinematic universe bullshit.
Whoever came up with the idea that every good new film has to be the start of the next Marvel cinematic universe shit should be arrested and forbidden to ever write anything about movies ever again. (So you can see how warm I am to the idea.)
That said: I like to dream about good adaptations based on classic Sega properties, like a good sci-fi tv show based on Phantasy Star, a comedy based on Rent-a-Hero, an animated movie based on Nights, a Golden Axe or Streets of Rage film, a Burning Rangers anime... Of course, most Sega games being arcade experiences in nature make it hard to think they working well in other media besides video games or, at best, anime shows (which happened to Virtua Fighter and Valkyria Chronicles). Besides Phantasy Star, all the others would have to use a lot of creative freedom to work as they barely have any story, and I am very afraid of what would come out.
In the end, I think I'm happy with them just being games, as we are past that point when we thought a game needed to become a film to validate our passion for it (as if films were inequivocally better than games).

Comix Zone would be a fun movie.

Now I want a Thunder Force IV movie. By the way, for those that don't know. This is what lightening means: Now imagine doing that, but with force! Well, that's what Thunder Force IV is all about in the West: And since we are talking about creating life, we can just say Thunder Force IV is the spiritual successor to Salamander. All of this, dispise being made by two very different companies, in two very different systems:

I don't really see how most of the Sega properties would co-exist in a universe, let alone make movies about all of them.

There is the game Fantasy Zone for the Master System, also Space Harrier is said to take place in 'the Fantasy Zone'. Maybe that's where most of the far out MS titles take place. Alex Kidd lives on the planet Aries. Ristar also takes place on another planet. Maybe it can be an emphasis on Sega UNIVERSE. In my draft, was going to have my Phantasy Star's Algol star system take place in a pocket dimension attached to the real Algol system (which has two smaller stars orbiting it without planets). Maybe that is where the FZ can be.

Cervantes scipioafricanus dschult3 Yeah, how about a flurry of new TV series instead of a cinematic universe? There's also Phantasy Star Online 2, Virtua Fighter, Sakura Taisen.

centipede - Interestingly, it seems games nowadays are fairing better on tv shows than films, maybe because it's harder to condense a game that lasts maybe dozens of hours in a film - hence the success of The Witcher and Castlevania on Netflix, while the latest Tomb Raider movie, even though it was based on an entry that had enough story for a movie, was a piece of crap. By the way, I know they keep saying that Witcher isn't directly based on the games, but come on. The show is a bit cheesy (I say it's this generation's version of Xena: Warrior Princess), but that's exactly what makes it nice, I liked it.

Like that 80's Nintendo cartoon? Captain N? Ugh! Virtua Fighter was an anime. The characters could easily make cameos in the anime of PSO2, because THAT is set in Tokyo, part time. So there's crossover potential. And what if, in that universe, there's also the events of 'Yakuza' and Shenmue occuring? More crossover potential. And what if Sakura Taisen's 'demon wars' happened in that universe's past? I also read that (allegedly) Phantasy Star Classic and Red Photon Zillion are set in the same universe.

To me, the problem will always be the focus on the crossover aspect. Crossovers are, at best, very cheesy; at worst, they limit the potential of each individual property and obligates all of them to share a similar tone and even aesthetics.
