Considering the advantages of cartridges I mentioned before. I doubt the price difference will stop them to compete with those extra feautures. I doubt cartridges will ever go down in price as much as a Blu-Ray disc, but I'm sure they can get good deals. They are already doing it with the 3DS, doing it with consoles won't make a big difference. They're only doing it with the handhelds because they want to save space. |

They're only doing it with the handhelds because they want to save space. And that's exactly why it would not surprise me if they start doing it, specially if they release a hybrid console. However the reading speed difference is huge, so even if your console is not that powerful you can still beat a much more powerfull console just by using cartridges alone. I hope they are smart enough to realize that. |

I hope they are smart enough to realize that. The main reason why they won't go cartridges is because digital download is the shit now. It'll take over next generation and physical games will be history. Wanting cartridges back is simply wishfull thinking |

I doubt it. As much as I love my PS3 digital collection. There is a chance physical games will never disappear as long as consoles exist.
Unless they stop releasing consoles I guaranteed you physical copies will be there.
There is a chance consoles will disappear, but so far they are still standing strong.

That was my argument with this gen. Particularly with Eastern releases, they play in PS3 and PS4 for the most part.
The Wii U plays all the Wii games, it even has built in the same OS. Yet it is considered a gen after.

Yet it is considered a gen after. I don't think you understand, the Xbox One Scorpio only plays Xbox One games (and some 360), and the PS4 Neo only plays PS4 games. Therefore they are not next gen. |

All new games will always be compatible with both consoles, but it will have a Scorpio/Neo mode and a base mode depending on which version you own. |

Just remember what happened with Mortal Kombat X that was promised for the PS3 as well and they had to cancel all the pre-orders because they couldn't make it work for the older hardware.
