Nintendo is probably the worst when it comes to practices now. Amiibos, 1990 esque online services, user unfriendly hardware (See wiiu account management), terrible hardware for the asking price (240p screen for 200$?!!)

After FIFA 11. The game got them too much cash and they stared hiring Corp. minded people. As a consequence internal devs like Dice got really good visual engines lacking only in the physics departmemt, because in order to sell more launch copies, graphics matter more than actual gameplay content.
An example of this is as soon as they saw PES 14 was going to be made with the Fox engine and become massively superior in physics dynamics they throwed all those licensing limitations to prevent them from overshadowing them.
So now we have 3 PES games (14,15, 16) that are finally clearly superior in player physics, but the licensing really damages the games. Konami found a loup around it with the costumization options, but the lack of licensing still hurts the franchise quite a bit.
I remember the EA James Bond games were actually fine.
About Nintendo they have the darkest franchises in gaming, yet they look so innocent, that gives them extra evilness. I would not discard a pact with the devil considering how good most first party games end up even 'till these days.

I refuse to hate EA. Their drive for money gave me the opportunity to have the Mass Effect trilogy on the PS3. For that I am eternally grateful.

@armored_Core_Raven was Thrill Kill even that good of a game to start with? I've heard a lot of people say it's shitty, and judging by what I've seen of the gameplay and cutscenes, it looks awful. Still, I've gotta give them credit for actually achieving an AO rating. That's an exceptionally rare achievement for a mainstream game. How come the MPAA goes apeshit over decapitations in movies and hands out NC-17 ratings like free gum, but when decapitations happen in video games, the ESRB doesn't care at all? Anyway, spooie thank you for that very informative (and tragic) post. I had no idea EA Games was anywhere near being that bad. I can totally see why people hate them now.

This just makes me sad that probably we won't see another Virtua Tennis game for the PS4. I'm a super fan of the series. Virtua Tennis 4 was excellent, and it plays well even with a fight stick. Those EA Grand Slam games are not even close to the goodness of gameplay Virtua Tennis delivers.

No prob, meleemastro. EA's done a lot of questionable things... but you know, most of the companies that large have over time. There was a joke some time back that their slogan would change form "Challenge Everything" to "Consume Everything." Of course, over the last decade, I think people shifted toward Activision for their practices after the whole Infinity Ward debacle went down maybe 8 years or so back.

BTW... regarding Thrill Kill... I've never played it (I guess there are some early builds out there, somewhere), but I had heard that much of the game was later reworked into Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style, also on the PS1.

It was my most wished for game that year as I had played a copy with my friend who somehow got hold of it and I absolutely loved it. It was released in stored for a short time and some copies got out there so the game could later be spread by fans regardless of EA pulling it off the shelves when having acquired the legal rights to it. Activision later later used the Thrill Kill game engine as the basis to make Wu-Tang Taste the Pain, which was an overall awful game from what I remember having tried it once after hearing it was "like" Thrill Kill.. it was most certainly not like Thrill Kill.

The series is really one of the greatest video game series of all time, but no matter what choices you've made you still only get 3 choices which doesn't have anything to do what you've been fighting for.

I'm liking Activision more than EA these days, and that's a big leap for me.

It must've been late 1998 or early 1999 when I played it for the first time so I was most likely 14 at the time, that's close enough to the recommended age as far as I was/am concerned. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
