From a CGR Email list:
CGR 2085 on January 1st
Prepare to celebrate Classic Game Room’s 25th anniversary on January 1st with the first episode of Classic Game Room 2085 Season 2! The first full-length episode drops on YouTube at Classic Game Room - YouTube
After that, CGR 2085 will run weekly on Fridays. No need to wait for the dumb YouTube subscription thing that may or may not alert you to a new CGR, we’re dropping on Fridays so just mark your old-fashioned calendar, smartwatch, phone, or whatever. FRIDAY IS CGR DAY.
But wait, there’s more! Classic Game Room will also be running daily on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. How can this be? Science!!
CGR on YouTube
“Some of you reading this may find it a surprise that the CGR in CGR Publishing stands for Classic Game Room. Classic Game Room is the longest-running Internet video game review show in the world. The series started in November of 1999!! That means that next year is its 25th anniversary. Let’s rock!
To celebrate 25 years of Classic Game Room, I am producing a new season of Classic Game Room 2085. Expect full-length episodes, a new set, big beats, game reviews, collecting adventures, console comparisons, arcade trips, and much more.
Also, expect something new. Unlike previous iterations of CGR, the big-budget CGR 2085 show is being produced in tandem with smaller, bite-size clips of video game-related nonsense on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
Things have changed a lot since 1999, and I’ve been researching what works and doesn’t work in the modern landscape over the past year. The show has been on hiatus for the past six years as I worked on other things, things that thankfully free CGR from the usual constraints of internet show production.
Classic Game Room is moving into a new set with its sister show over at Omega Ronin (coming soon.) We’re going to give CGR a party in 2024 to celebrate 25 years of video game reviews from THE FUTURE! Expect new branding, new glassware, clothing, and more!”
