Finally, I got my laptop back! This week, we got another monster flick from Pimpalicious , because Stratogustav's suggestions are boring. Things get hairy as we face... Again, I've only watched the original, but I can't remember how much I liked it as it's been nearly a decade since I saw it. I do remember liking Dracula, Frankenstein and The Invisible Man more than this though.

This perfectly belongs next to Dracula and Frankenstein in terms of classics. This is definitely an underused IP though. They could have done more with it throughout the years.

Unlike the other threads this doesn't have a version that's debatably better. The 2010 version was not good.
As for me with the other Universal movies, I would go Dracula > The Creature From the Black Lagoon > The Wolf Man = Frankenstein. Not ranking The Invisible Man or The Mummy since it's been way too long since I've seen them.

I haven't seen the 2010 version, I just know it is made by the same guy who made the first Captain America movie, and it has Anthony Hopkins, and Benicio Del Toro in it, so it cannot possibly be that bad, but I really doubt it would come anywhere near as the classic one.

It's not unwatchable but very meh. About on par with Dracula Untold and The Mummy with Tom Cruise as far as reboots go.

Nothing beats An American Werewolf in London when it comes to werewolf movies for me though, I don't recall if we ever discussed that one. Dog Soldiers(2002) is my second favorite, I'm probably the only one here who has seen it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely look it up. The British are usually good at depicting Werewolves, like Rare's Sabrewulf:

I watched the 2010 remake and it's terrible:
"After Coppola remade Dracula using famous actors, Universal thought it would be great to remake all of the classic horror monster movies using the same formula. Unfortunately for them and the rest of the world, this movie sucked ass. Who cares if these famous actors star in the film if the story is garbage. The transformation scenes are awful CGI-ridden crap. The main character gets involved in one of the most generic and boring romance imaginable, and there is a father-son conflict that might as well come straight out the Hulk (2003) movie. It is seriously this bad. I could not wait until this movie was over." 1.5/5

...and there is a father-son conflict that might as well come straight out the Hulk (2003) movie. Oh man. You compared it to that pile of crap? Surely it can't be THAT bad!
