Does anyone play here? I'm going to download the demo to see what it is all about.

I have a PSP copy. Normal difficulty tends to be hard. You craft items from animal and plant-based ingredients, then hunt your mission objective. You got to keep your weapon sharp and feed yourself to keep up your stamina. And there's talking cats.
And here's Derek for more:

I have some of the games in the series, but it's been a while since I played them as they are very time consuming games that you really need to get into to properly enjoy. Great series overall, no bad games that I know of. I've mainly played the older ones on PS2 and PSP but I also have some on 3DS and Wii and I've tried and seen a lot of Monster Hunter World on PS4.
Monster Hunter World on PS4 definitely seems to be the best game so far, unless you specifically want to play portable, then both PSP and 3DS got you covered.
My personal favorite is Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on PSP.

I don't have it, but I know the IP is huge, they even made a big productions movie recently.

Just got news of there being a new game coming out soon for PC and Switch only, and all I can find are people complaining over known problems and not having much hope for it. Some footage of the Switch version shows very bad visual glitches and problems like texture rending issues etc. There are also reports of it not having a proper end part of the game because it's been rushed and is incomplete. Hopefully they'll at least fix the fundamental technical stuff before it's released, but it's not looking good and I don't see how they can easily fix an incomplete game this close to launch. Could this be the first genuinely bad Monster Hunter (that I know of)? Not really my problem regardless as it won't be released on anything I own, but even if it was, at this point with this much backlash already, I wouldn't go near it until much later, and only if they release a new and updated version that properly fixes the technical problems and adds in the proper required content. On some of the Switch forums I've seen some very vocal defenders of the Switch version claim stuff like how World got a lot more backlash before and after it was released, but I've honestly only heard good things about World, both from my own experience with it, it didn't come across as bad, and from the many streamers I've watched play and enjoy it , and it's been a massively successful and popular game... so yeah, those defenders reek of typical rancid fanboy bullshit to say the least.

Well, I don't know about fanboyisms, but the game doesn't seem to be my cup of tea. I don't really like the oddball grappling technique or the weird bug system. The game was pretty to look at and smooth as butter. Some guys are calling this a candidate for the game of the year, but I need more of a narrative. Perhaps I'll try the RPG Capcom is coming out with later this year.
