I still think Sega is cool, all those products they are still doing for arcade businesses are outstanding. It's just a smaller business now, but they still do quality products.
They were always bringing some of the coolest innovations alongside Nintendo, and they are the producers of many of the things we take for granted nowadays.
This modem thing was really something. We didn't really know about the Internet until after 1995, and these guys were already living in the future.

We didn't really know about the Internet until after 1995, and these guys were already living in the future. Both Sega and Nintendo were head to head, so they both had to innovate. Sega tripped up so Nintendo is still running, with Sony and Microsoft on their heels. Remember when they tried to make their own WiiMotes? And the Kinect? Nobody? Only Nintendo stands out because of innovation today.

I also heard Microsoft stole a lot of ideas from Sega in launching their Xbox platform.
They basically became friends so they can learn everything about the business, and then stabbed them.
But I can't confirm this. That's just what I heard.
