I really like the design of it, whoever designed this thing has very good taste, and making it play Dreamcast games makes it cooler too.

centipede, you're right. We do need more game talk around here. I'm a bit worried that this forum is straying way too far from its original purpose.
As for the Super Console X, I have mixed feelings about it. I'm not anti-emulation, per say, but I'm not for emulation machines like this. Social media sites were inundated with advertisements for rip off consoles which came with thousands upon thousands of stolen ROMs, and it just feels dirty. The way copy write laws are violated these days disturbs me, and I don't know why they can't be enforced when the product is blatantly being advertised publicly online. I'm also surprised to see how rip off companies scam customs agencies around the world. I've seen videos recently that show labels for rip off electronics from Wish get the label "shoes," and no one bats an eye. Yet if when I boarded an airplane recently with my daughter, they scanned her Corduroy Bear as if the narcos were using her as a home base for cocaine shipments. But I digress...
The video was well done. I like how he identified it as a Chinese Android TV in a revamped case almost immediately. He did mention at the end that there are cheaper versions with more power out there, so this seems to be quite a scam. These cheap Chinese knock offs seem to be a dime a dozen recently. Ali Baba is quite the source for flipping cheap crap with different cases and badges these days.

All of these are basically Raspberry Pi boards with fancy cases. If you already have a regular computer at home, you don't need any of these, your computer likely does a better job than most knock off consoles out there.

Like it or not, our consoles aren't getting any younger, especially if they're 20 or so years old. Spare parts become harder to find. This is one way of preserving your old games. I understand, dschult3 , I'd like to see people get paid for their hard work, but what if the games no longer make them money? Plus, I don't have to worry about whether my newest Mega Drive game is suffering bit rot or not. Also, the minimalist in me wants something like this. My Mega Drive HD is just collecting dust. If I modded a PSP, I could've save myself some money and even space. And you're right, stratogustav , you could just use a computer and hook it u to your TV.

As long as we're not emulating modern games, I think emulation is a great way to preserve and experience retro games without the stupid price tags and stiff controllers that don't function as well. Without emulation i couldn't experience half the shooters on the Saturn. It's not fair at all to ask for $500 for me to experience one game. If prices went down like they should as time went on and the hardware was still in good condition like cartridge based consoles then I would of said no to emulation. But as time goes on I'm hearing more people complain about how it's hard to find a Saturn or a Ps1 that isn't faulty. It's even coming to a point where people are making the same complaints about the Dreamcast. Five more years and this is also going to apply to the Ps2.

I would say when it comes to consoles, the console exclusives are the ones worth it because they were intended for that particular hardware in the first place, and luckily they tend to be the most abundant.
However, from the Atari 2600, all the way to the Saturn, and PS1, a big number of games were designed for the arcades first, and then ported to consoles, it was only when the Dreamcast arrived that we can say that they were on an even level.
In those cases, the arcade versions are often the ones worth playing. Sometimes the downgraded versions do have something different to offer, and I understand that has some value, but ultimately it is the arcade version of a game the one that has more to offer.
So if someone is missing from their collection a very expensive port I would suggest not to worry so much about it because that person is better off playing the arcade version elsewhere.
And when you see the arcade versions of those games, they weren't cassettes, tapes, cartridges, or discs, they were single motherboards, just like your raspberry pi, so you really aren't getting that much of a different experience there.
When it comes to console exclusives though, even little things like the original controller makes a huge difference, just the way buttons are placed, and the overall feel of the controller on your hand can completely change that experience, and that's why I like the Minis so much.
PCs do offer some knock off controllers that are very close to that experience as well, and the closer you get to the original experience, the better, which is why the original console, with the original cartridge, with the original controller, on a CRT, will always win, and that's why people pay so much for that.
So it becomes a matter of how much you like that experience because usually some good approximation to that kind of experience is enough for many people, but it may not be enough for others.

Plus, I don't have to worry about whether my newest Mega Drive game is suffering bit rot or not. I'm with you there. I'm not completely against emulation, and I agree with you about games that are no longer available except to the ludicrous collector's market. I'm still seething at the fact that I wanted to go game hunting with my son once he got old enough to realize that the collector's market has ruined the fun. $200 for a loose copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES or Xenosaga 3 is insane.
However, since the COVID lockdowns began, I have seen countless advertisements on social media promoting these Ali Baba sticker flips with idiots asking questions like, "But does it have Contra?" or "Does it play Sonic?" And of course, they have thousands of ROMS with IPs that are available today, and for some weird reason, they aren't being shut down. Also, they seem to be overcharging by a long shot. The Ali Baba flips must be one heck of a boon for these guys, once you see how much each unit actually costs. I suppose that's why Soulja Boy wanted in on that action.

AI knows what you are after, so they link you to those ads based on what conversations you have at home. The other day we were talking about Space Jam with my buddy and he doesn't follow sports, but he opened YouTube and they were already suggesting him NBA finals stuff. It's pretty wild how AI can hear you talk. It has been like that for while. I remember having another conversation a while back of how Michael Jackson became white, and when I got home the first suggestion was a video on how Michael Jackson became white. These things have ears all over the place, so they will send you knock off console ads just for talking about it, not to mention actively looking for it on a website. In a way this has helped make prices go overboard because people can mess with these algorithm and purposely rise the prices of anything. Something absurd like this:

Something absurd like this: I try not to have spy machines in my house. Alexa sounds like a great idea, but I don't like everything I say in private being listened to. I was thinking about making a post about that Super Mario 64 auction, but I think this forum probably already saw this coming. What a crazy, yet stupid price.

It's my phone. I have no Alexa, smart TVs with voice command are not different either, apparently neither the PS4 if you have the cam, or any mic.
