Cervantes, have you played Melee? Because it sounds like you haven't played Melee. Just play Melee. GC instantly becomes at least A tier once you factor in Melee. I mean, it's unarguably the second most significant fighting game after Street Fighter 2 after all. And you couldn't get it for PS2 or Xbox, either! Melee was the ultimate killer app. Melee is certainly one of the famously great exclusives, although I'm not a huge fighting game fan so it wouldn't do much for me. For that generation, I always remember Ninja Gaiden/Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox, the absolutely massive PS2 library and the final creative push that Sega gave with the Dreamcast (stuff like Rez, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue I&II etc.), so the Game Cube looks just a bit less appealing by contrast - it's solid, but there are very few originally exclusive titles that I would like to play. I would still put it in the same tier as the Xbox, since they have similarly small but great libraries, but PS2 and Dreamcast would go higher on the list. Edit: Considering my preferences, I do think my list would be very similar to stratogustav 's, except with PS1 and 360 being on B and Master System on C. Well, I can't make recommendations since I don't really know what genres you like outside of 3D hack-n-slash and JRPGs, which you seem to love. But make no mistake about it, the 'cube was a fine system, and I'm sure that if you played titles like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II, and Eternal Darkness, you might come to appreciate it a bit more! But BTH you can't go wrong with any of the 6th gen consoles. Even though I'm known to complain about the DC (my least-favorite 6th gen system), all someone would need to do is supply me with copies of MvC 2, SF Alpha 3 and SF 3 Third Strike for it and that would immediately shut me up. The libraries for these systems really are subjectively perfect.

Poor Master System, underrated even by Sega fans. Hahaha, that's true! I absolutely love some of its games, like Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, Ninja Gaiden and Phantasy Star, which are among the best 8-bit games in their genres, and its Sonic games are on par with the Genesis releases. But in the end, it's a console that I do not come back to as many times as the others, so I do admit that I tend to underrate it. It's still a great console, though.

Yeah, don't blame yourself, many people do it, the 8-bit generation was very significant. The limited hardware pushed developers to give compelling fun experiences that even newer developers have a hard time replicating with newer titles based on 8-bit limitations.
Before the 3rd generation of consoles developers were primarily focused on developing for the arcades because it gave them the freedom for visuals and sound that home computers didn't offer
However by the time the 8-bit systems arrived the money was in the home market, so this challenged developers to dedicate their focus and attention to create the best possible experience for that market.
There was still arcade development, but the home market became the priority, and this is why the market saw so many significant creative experiences been born out of that transition.
The Master System was so beloved that Sega even brought next generation titles to the system, often built from the grown up by internal studios, which is a testament of how significant the console was, which is why is not surprising remakes from the system are still profitable 40 years later.

I usually don't flex my gaming experience, but in order to quash any doubt over my prowess at competitive gaming, I'm just going to say this: You see this guy? That's Mew2king. He's one of the greatest Melee players of all time, and I had the honor of attending a tournament with him once. I didn't get a chance to play against him directly, but it was a real treat to watch him play in person. I fully respect his skill at competitive gaming as well as his excellent sportsmanship, and I acknowledge that he is a better gamer than me. Even when it comes to E-sports gamers with the most infamously shitty attitudes, I will still at least respect their skill level and I would never fail to acknowledge that they are superior gamers to me. That's what E-sports is all about: skill and respect. Respect your superiors, Balder.

The only thing of substance I got out of this is that you didn't actually achieve anything in a competitive environment, but you have a crush on one of the players who did achieve something of worth? Good for you man.

The fact that you have gone on record as claiming that you could out-game top-professional MLG stars like Wizzrobe as well as denouncing the fighting game genre proves what a delusional, arrogant, sour-sport you really are. And you continue to deny it! Talk about a rude awakening to reality. Well whatever. I don't give a shit about arrogant, small-time assholes like Balder. I'm just defending my gaming cred here.

I hate ProJared but that seems to be a good list (not what I would pick). But he had to put Nintendo DS in S Tier ?. what a load of shit but that's ProJared for you. DS is B Tier at best. The GBA was a better console and even that doesn't deserve a A Tier ranking let alone S Tier. Besides the Nintendo DS bullshit I think it's close to being accurate to how those console should be ranked without adding personal preferences. I've been meaning to clarify something: I do not dislike or hate ProJared. When I first discovered him I absolutely despised him because my introduction to him were his reviews of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, which I both hated and are two of the worst reviews I have ever seen. He totally missed the point of both those projects. HOWEVER, I have since watched around a dozen of his other reviews/videos and I enjoyed all of them, and I think most importantly, ProJared isn't just a true gamer but he's a real, genuine nerd as well, which I fully respect. Hearing him talk about the Final Fantasy franchise and the Mega Man X series showed me how passionate he really was about gaming as a medium. By comparison, James Rolfe and Craig Skistimus are NOT real nerds and are NOT true gamers. Time has revealed that they are both just 80s reaganomics cultists who worship machismo culture and aren't even passionate about games, not even as a hobby but especially not as a career/profession. These two conservative phonies are both a total fucking disgrace to nerd culture and it sickens me to the core. I hate having talentless phonies like these two in my gaming communities. Even Mark Bussler admits in his review of Dungeons and Dragons Shadow over Mystara that he wasn't a nerd and shunned nerd culture in his school days: I feel like true nerds like ProJared are actually difficult to find in many gaming communities, thus making him quite exceptional and rare in my eyes, which is why he has my respect. Craig Skistimas doesn't even post content about games anymore, he just makes gossip content about machismo culture and 80s worship, proving what a fucking scum-sucking disgrace he is to nerd culture around the world. What a god damned phony that guy was. So yeah, I actually like ProJared and respect him quite a lot. He's not even what I would consider a "bad" nerd or a "fanboy" like Derrek Buck or TheJWittz are. Even though they are both nerds, I despise those guys as well. They give a bad name to nerd culture too, but ProJared doesn't in my book. He is cool.
