I don't know why would anyone want Assassin's Creed to lay off, it is one of my favorite series.

First time I saw PoP was on a school computer and I never got to play it. The closest I ever got to playing it was playing Blackthorne/Blackhawk on the SNES, which has been described as "Prince of Persia with guns", brought to you by those guys who made some online game with orcs and humans. And it looked like this: I might take a peek at the XBLA version of PoP sometime.

I don't know why would anyone want Assassin's Creed to lay off, it is one of my favorite series. Well it's a series with one developer pushing out a title once a year with extra DLCs. They're often broken and almost unplayable at launch. They're saturating the market with that many similar games. Even Call of Duty has three developers, that gives each game 3 years of developing time instead of 1.

Prince of Persia brings me back memories, in fact I have a sad memory of playing PoP2 from a CD my parents gave me, and for some reason the boat at the end of the first level wasn't catchable and that turned out to be my weirdest traumatic memory (seriously, why I am sad with something like that even now?)
But the first Prince of Persia is just a great idea, and well realized too. I won't say that I never felt the game could be a bit more balanced, though, I dislike how too much of it is based on memorizing. But the combat is so memorable, the basis of it is still relevant today seeing how cult-favorite Nidhogg seems to be based on it.
As for the newer series, I only played Two Thrones. That's it, better not go on details.
Btw, Assassin's Creed should just be replaced with a Black Flag franchise.

The more I think about it I do think I rented the SNES version. I thought about getting it when it was released on PS3/PSN and never got around to it.

That's your opinion. The only thing that could make it better is always having a female role playing lead. Syndicate was a big tease for me.

Has anyone played the new one? I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I haven't played it yet, either. It looks a lot like Strider 2013, doesn't it?

Not sure, I'm confused which is the new one. Is it a new Sands Of Time, or are we talking SNES Prince Of Persia? I heard there is one without the prince with some other character.

I'm thinking of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, which uses 3d graphics in a 2d plane. Due to it being a search-action with a focus on combat, I thought it looked a lot like a successor to the amazing Strider 2013 (I love that game). I would even say the gameplay looks more Strider than Prince of Persia, which is not a bad thing to me. Or, for a more obscure reference, it looks like Osman/Cannon Dancer, which was already a successor to Strider.

I think I heard both are Indian studios, so it is pretty impressive to see India being a player in the industry. And since you are mentioning Strider I really miss Double Helix, it is one of those studios that died at Microsoft. We could have another Killer Instinct, but so far it seems the IP is still on hold. Although I heard they are making the new Tomb Raider, but who knows.
