I wanted to like this movie, but I didn't. However I admit I wasn't very good at criticizing some type of movies back then, so maybe if I watch it now I will actually love it as we are expected to do.

Why'd you want to discuss this boring ass movie. This is something I'd expect from the Maestro. Anyways, here's the review from when I watched it back in the summer of 2020:
"Oof... Spielberg is without a doubt the most recognizable movie director of all time. Even people who do not like movies knows who this guy is. He is the go-to director of most people. He is essentially The Beatles of movie directors. He is the jack of all trades. He has done pretty much every type of genre, at least the mainstream ones. With so many classics, he sure has made some duds, but none of them has been so bad as War Horse. This type of movies are awful, just a waste of time and is made for gullible people. This movie irritates me just as much as Hachi (the movie about the dog waiting). It is obvious that Spielberg is trying to play on people's heart strings, but it does not work when it becomes this artificial and poorly written. Horses do not act like this. I cringed my mind out when the horse willingly took the place of a horse with a broken leg. There are lots of these moments and they make this movie a complete mess. The film has a very long run-time and it bogs down the pacing. This is one of those Spielberg feel-good movies that is just too much. It almost becomes a parody of itself. The only good thing I can say is that there is a good war segment, but by watching that segment, you only wish you were watching Saving Private Ryan all the more." 1/5
