I never got into the series on PS3 so never played these. I'd be more likely to try the PSP game since it's third person, although the back of the box makes it sound like it doesn't have much if any single player content. edit: Nevermind I scrolled down and just saw the 'Connect' content part.

Pimpjira Yeah, both games have fullsize self-contained story campaigns for singleplayer. The added features you got in Retribution if you connected to a PS3 with Resistance 2 were really cool, but I didn't own a PS3 back then when I played through Retribution, so I never got to test them out. I will definitely try them one day when I decide to replay Retribution, now that I own a PS3 and all the Resistance games for it. Overall I played about half of Retribution on my TV and half in portable mode. Fantastic game, absolutely loved it. I tried the online mode a couple of times too, since PSN was free on PSP, just like it was on PS2, PS3 and Vita, and I played a few deathmatches. It was good and all, reminded me of when I played Quake 2 and UT2003 online on PC a few years earlier, but singleplayer is my thing, and no online or even proper local multiplayer comes close. I haven't played that much of Burning Skies yet, but it's a great game too. The use of touch screen for certain actions isn't too bad. It's not quite on par with Killzone Mercenary, but it's great in its own right. My vote goes to Retribution.

Everyone was playing shooters in that generation. I was a late adopter, so I got into the PS3 when the generation was pretty much almost over, but even then I still felt the pressure to try some shooters at least, and for me Killzone and Resistance were the ones I end up giving a try. I don't think they are anything special, but they are very enjoyable, so I would like to finish playing all the games in the series, and the handheld ones are the ones I'm still missing, so in this case I would definitely play both because I actually end up enjoying these games every time I start them.
