So you are saying Saint Seiya does not count? I always felt the Saint Seiya games were my RPG fighters.
I played some RPGs though, like the Zelda games, Drakengard 3, the Soul games, the IGA Castlevania games, and even Akiba's Trip, although so far I gave up in the first hour of that one. But I'm planning to go back at some point.
I'm also not sure if Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus count, I think they do.

I heard Persona 4 Golden is a huge title for the Vita, probably their biggest title in terms of popularity.

Most would say that the only games you mentioned there that count are Drakengard and the Souls games. Zelda isn't an RPG I guess but it shares enough traits that I think they are close enough(same goes for Shenmue, Mega Man Legends, etc).

That makes sense. I bought Drakengard 3. The only one I own and I haven't even started it yet, but I will. The same goes for Akiba's Trip, I'm an hour in that one. Then the Soul games I usually give up after 3 hours, not accomplishing much. But like I said they are on my to do list.

I'm playing Borderlands. The first one. After playing Destiny, I can see the slight similarities in it. Destiny is a mix of Phanasy Star Online, Halo and Borderlands. Speaking of Phantasy Star Online, I got out Phantasy Star Portable 2 for a short time, and woot I felt better afterwards.....is it possible to have cravings for certain games and not know it?

Rally Fusion (PS2) My all-time favorite rally game! Since my Xbox broke in December of last year just a few days after I finally got hold of the Xbox version of this game and since it wasn't compatible with Xbox 360 I never got to try it even once, so instead I decided to get out the PS2 version again and replay that instead. It's still fantastic and I love it, and as usual I pretty much stop playing everything else once I start a new Rally Fusion save so it's pretty much all I've been playing lately, alongside a little V-Rally 3 on GBA and Ignition on PC.

fsfsxii Yeah, was an odd one. The opening cinematic was gorgeous, but a combination of lackluster voice-acting, off-putting in-game character models and a frustrating main character caused me to put it down after about 2 hours. Thankfully, it was only $10 Canadian and I should be able to resell for that much. Next up to try is Lost Odyssey, also on the 360.

I finished the main Valkyria Chronicles story mode (now to the extras!), got back to Ninja Gaiden's very hard mode (I'm now on Chapter 8; I think I got the hang of it) and played a bit of Golden Axe: Beast Warrior! Valkyria is a very excelent game and one of the best I played in recent years (certainly the best RPG). I could point only one single fault in it: the fact that A Ranks are based only on how fast you completed the mission (instead of considering enemies killed or damage taken), so it's an incentive to rush the game abusing your overpowered scouts instead of carefully and strategically using your entire squad. Not really huge problem at all. My first impressions on GA:BW are very excellent and I don't get why the game was so reviled on release. See: 1. The graphics aren't very elaborate in comparison to other 360 games, BUT it runs at 60 fps, which is much more important to me and is a thing not many 360 games achieved. 2. You have only parry/dodge buttons instead of a defense one, so you have to be really focused on the combat; also, the enemies are really aggressive and all of them can attack at the same time, instead of that bullshit Arkham-style combat in which only two enemies at a time attack you very slowly. I frankly loved the few minutes of combat I had here (I was playing on hard mode). 3. The sound design is great. Seriously: it sounds properly brutal. 4. I got a monster. Burned an enemy. Cut the other in half. I'm very satisfied with that. 5. The only legit criticism I can make from the time I played was the camera: it's completely controllable, BUT it's entirely manual: you have to keep adjusting it, which may be hard in the middle of the combat. At least it is kept far enough from my character, so I can see my surroundings clearly, but it could have a lock-on button - especially considering I already found enemies with ranged attacks.

Only the Souls games are RPGs, and hybrids at that. Those other games you were mentioning are definitely not, and while I'm it, Zelda (with one exception) and Valkyria Chronicles have no RPG elements to go along at all. So, practical rule to help figure out the main genre: if I take all the RPG elements off of this game, will the gameplay be as good or better? If the answer is YES, then that game is surely not an RPG; if the answer is NO, then yes, it is an RPG. Of course this only applies if there are RPG elements to raise a doubt. Wow! And you're on hard mode? Dude, if you are doing this well in hard mode you might end up liking it more than me, even. Btw, you just confirmed for me that 360 version works better. The Ps3 can't maintain the framerate, so graphics aren't super great. And about the sound design, have you also turned the music all the way up and diminished the voices/sfx? The soundtrack in that game is perfect, but if you don't do that you miss a good part of the setting.

Cervantes: You are completely right about Valkyria Chronicles. The major flaw is the ranking system. It should give you more points for a slow level play though if you kill all enemies.
