From what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be a release date for any other country than Japan.

But the Model 1 is so classy. Model 2 is just plain. Where's the love for the Model 3?  I kid. I kid. Geeeeeesh! I have always preferred the Model 1 combo with the CD attached underneath it over the Model 2 side by side. |

I've been hesitant to get another console like this because the game rosters are largely the same, or I've got those games on another system. But the Mega CD games look promising, as long as they're not first person shooters. A D-pad is the only thing worse than a PS2 analog stick.

I guess it was just the way of bringing back people who already bought the previous one: you get new games alongside a new, pretty Genesis model to complete your collection. I don't know how it was in Japan, but over here the Model 2 *is* more remembered than Model 1, since it came with Sonic 2 as a bundle in a very good price, so that's the model that most people ended up buying. I myself prefer the Model 1 design, but both of them are cool. Sega always nailed their console aesthetics. |
