Recent Game Purchases

I'm a huge PD fan, I thought it was... Ok. The highlight is the optional remade soundtrack by Saori Kobayashi: the original soundtrack is still unsurpassed, mind you, but it's nice to see it revisited and reinterpreted in a way that makes it more similar to later entries in the series. At least on PC, the gameplay is almost the same, they really tried to keep is as close to the original as possible. Visuals and animation on the other hand are just "good enough": they look pretty on PC, but miss some flair of the original (no camera flying over a desert on the title screen, no rolling waves in the first level, the final boss looks smaller and less imposing, the animation is generally too "smooth", interpolated, while the original animation felt more natural with some snappier movements). It looks good, but you see how it could look much better, especially after Panzer Dragoon Orta.

I do recommend it. If you haven't played the original, it's a good way to experience it, since the gameplay is really close. And if you have played, it's a nice homage and most fans are probably happy enough just to see the series revived in some way.

The Switch version looks a bit worse (noticeable lack of reflections on the water right on the first level, shorter draw distance, lower resolution and 30 fps), but centipede can confirm if it plays well.

Not a game but I did buy an original wonderswan in green to go with my wonderswan crystal. This one won't be backlit in order to maintain the 40 hours of battery life you get out of it so I will just play it as it is.

I just got Final Fantasy: Pixel Remaster I-VI (PC, Steam). I want to play at least IV or VI this year.

I wanted to buy the physical edition for the Switch, but I just can't justify the price (Currently $87.99; Digital is much cheaper).  It doesn't look like there are many quality of life upgrades either.  I'd love to hear what you have to say about them.

My copies of mingle magnet, digimon d project, and Tana wo maku Tori came in the mail today.

Ordered a copy of Pokémon crystal Japanese version and Pokémon puzzle challenge Japanese version for Gameboy color.

Picked up copies of monster rancher battle card, mega man extreme 2, tetris 2, warlocked, Pokemon puzzle challenge and Pokemon crystal Japanese versions. Everything except tetris 2 is for gameboy color.
