What you have here, good sir, is certified worthy of being published in an established game review magazine. You covered criteria for playing/enjoying/understanding the game, the outdated nature of the controls in spite of developer attempt to accomodate players, the shift in gameplay from the series' established norm and used images to support significant thoughts (even threw in appeasing font and colors!). It's too bad game magazines are not as popular as they once were but at least we can use this site to vicariously keep their premise alive. I normally gloss over the Playstation thread but this was well worth stopping by for. Great work leaon79s !

Sorry for the late-ish reply. I was just so utterly flabbergasted by your praise that I was literally left dumbfounded for words... But thanks all the same! Although I wouldn't really wan t to be like those publication people with their industrial landscape pandering meself... Back in the day 8 years ago all I heard about MGS4 was 10 out of 10s, Kojima is God etc etc... (Now.. not so much though...) Just having honest opinions borne from nothing but the experience, and free from constraints of higher influence and payed obligation will yield the truest accounts methinks. The raw assessments of what we have here at CGR(?) are actually better than all that corporate business stuff.
Passion motivates more than profit don'tcha know... That's why I feel community reviews -at least the type we had going in the old site, as well as the new ones here with which we try to maintain that old Mk II spirit- are the go tos for the clearest lenses of game evaluation possible. Because we usually don't have agendas, save for the love of the game itself. Typically not too lengthy so as just to fill some arbitrary quota of words, yet substantial enough for a good rundown. That's seemingly also one of the reasons we continue to gravitate towards Karnage after all these years - he's raw, candid, unscripted (mostly), and just says what he feels. Although his thoroughness (or lack thereof) is an entirely different story... The Uncharted 4 review was a good example. I'm willing to bet that more than a few people see that design style as growing old & overused (yours truly included) - yet publications continue to shower it with deluge of praise... If it conforms and plays to (and especially if it excels at) what's expected of the era's norms (i.e what brings in the munny), there should be no fault with it, and so must be good... Karnage thinks it's stale, and he says as much. Ah, the liberation of being outlying & non-corporate. Just to paraphrase that old 90s adage - The truth is out there (i.e not in the ' in'dustry). Quite possibly one of the last bastions of verity we are... Btw Gustav, I'm still waiting on your game report ... It's 2 weeks overdue!

Hah! I sure hope so! Where are you at (in teh game) anyway? I feel there is a lot of stuff yet to happen. But if I tell you that would be giving you the advantage. This way I can still beat you before you get the plat.

Well you're very welcome good sire! Yeah news sources in it for a monetary incentive are full of shite but why shouldn't we be entitled to publish our very own monthly/bi-monthly review magazine that focuses on areas of our interests? People respect the integrity and I'm sure they're willing to fork over for well composed information on things they enjoy. It's not to say I'm looking to exploit the retro-market but rather consider how we can continue this culture of artifact appreciation without the evil-corporate brand attached to it. If we pieced our community reviews into a monthly site, we could really have some kind of burgeoning comprehensive site in the vein of MKII CGR.com. Not to say I'm dissatisfied by what we're doing now but there's no reason to rule out the possibility. We are the torch carriers don'cha know?

We have good people here and at least our content is pure and not tainted by lucrative incentives.
