Here I am going to talk a bit about a few arcade games that I would like to see finally released to home console. A lot of game that never left the arcade or were ported or had to be compromised when going to inferior hardware have been released on PS4 lately with the Arcade Archives releases so some of these might be more possible than I would've thought a few years ago. Namco also seems to be interested with their recent Arcade Game Series releases. Some of my picks are likely a pipe dream but here are some arcade exclusives that I would like to see possible in homes whether it be for PS4/X1/WiiU/NX/Steam/etc. I will start off with a licensed beat em' up by Capcom and that is Alien vs. Predator which was released in 1994. I finally got to play this game about a year ago in a local arcade and found it to match Capcom's other brawlers such as Final Fight, Knights of the Round, Captain Commando, etc. It makes good use of the license with an anime-inspired art style that fits the property. It would make for a good couch co-op game with the 3-player mode. One problem that the game did have though is repetitive enemies, you'll be fighting a lot of xenomorphs if you try this out. With the four characters to choose from with different play styles and weapons to pick up across the levels though, repetition isn't too much of a problem for the genre. After Capcom released Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara I was hoping they continue to do more releases like it but no go so far, unfortunately.
This next pick is Ninja Baseball Bat Man, an Irem title from 1993. Just hearing the name of title made me want to play it. This is another beat em' up but one that takes itself as seriously as you would expect given it's name. I also got to play this hidden gem at the same arcade I mentioned and really enjoyed the game for it's colorful visuals, fast paced game play, and silly characters. This is one of the videos AVGN made a video for and didn't have much bad to say about it. The game play is fun but standard fare, the main appeal for me was the 80/90s Saturday Morning cartoon style it has. How can a game about ninja baseball players in Power Rangers-like colors beating over the top bad guys not be awesome?
Sunset Riders actually saw a home release with different versions on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis but both of them were altered or censored in different ways. The game was originally released in 1991 and home version in 1993. Also, neither system had the great four player co-op that was featured in the arcades and could easily be offered now on PSN or XBL. Players shoot their way through eight levels, picking up power ups and killing bosses along the way. There have been quite a few shoot em ups being released digitally the last few years but not many of them have the excellent 4 player co-op that Sunset Riders does. Also it’s still not often that Western games are released, even after Red Dead Redemption was so successful. As Konami was responsible for The Simpsons and X-Men, maybe they will see fit to give Sunset Riders a chance. They have been no stranger to releasing their arcade games and adding online to them before. Spider-man: The Video Game was released by Sega back in 1991. This game would also be a great release due to it’s four player co-op. And Spider-man also has another new film reboot coming next year as many know now so this could be a good time to bank on that. The gameplay is mostly beat em up but also has some platforming gameplay. Spider-man: The Video Game has four characters to pick from: Spider-man, Black Cat, Sub-Mariner, and Hawkeye. Online play would be a great addition to this fun arcade game. The sections where the player characters appear to shrink and the bosses are big are kinda weird. The bosses include much of Spider-man’s rogue gallery such as Venom, Dr.Octopus, etc that gamers will get to beat down. It is not the best game of it's type but it is a fun enough licensed tie-in. And lastly a series that I'm sure everyone here is familiar with. Mario Kart has had 3 arcade releases: Mario Kart Arcade GP in 2005, Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 in 2008, and Mario Kart Arcade GP DX in 2014. I have not personally played these games but as Mario Kart is one of my favorite series I have wanted to play these and have not had the chance. As the arcade games are developed by Namco Bandai, Pac-Man appears in them as a playable character. From what I've seen there are a number of courses and items not present in the main series so it would be cool if they could be released on the NX as a collection.
And that will be all for now, there are others that I could have included so I might bring this topic up again. Anyway though, are there any arcade exclusive games you like to see released for home console or PC? What did you think of my pick? Thanks for reading! Does anyone else have any they like to see released on console?

I distinctly remember having this conversation before... It must have happened in the old forum. I remember there were some good ones. The ones I remember the most are: Golden Axe: Revenge of Death=Adder - This one is the true Golden Axe sequel, and really improves on the first game, with the virtue of being one of the best looking beat'em ups of that era. Planet Harriers - The 3D sequel to Space Harrier, it seems to also have some elements from Panzer Dragoon (the lock-on, mainly). Osman - A spiritual successor to Strider (made by Strider's creator). It's a very trippy and badass game, with a completely incomprehensible story that I happen to just love, even though I have no idea of what's happening. By the way, Osman have no weapons besides his legs - he just goes kicking everyone around, it's awesome. Virtua Cop 3 - What the hell, Sega! Why not port this one? The other Virtua Cop games are well known and loved, so I have no idea why this one never received any attention. The Outfoxies - Imagine a 2d, mature Smash Bros (before Smash Bros existed). "Kill your enemy by any means" is the order you receive, and you can use guns, explosives, swords, pies (?) and the scenery destruction itself to do it. It's a great multiplayer game.

I remember playing Mario Kart GP a long time ago, around 06 or 07. I remember being surprised that not only was there was an arcade version of Mario Kart, but it had Pac Man in it. I don't remember too much about the gameplay or the tracks though as I didn't get to play it for very long.
I'm not quite sure if it truly deserves a home release but I was always curious about how Dragonball Z Zenkai Battle played. It seems like one of the only DBZ games to actually go out of the way to make each character unique.

BuggyBoy, Rastan and Darius should get PC ports that use all 3 monitors.
And Quiz and Dragons 2017. God I love that game, even if some of the answers have errors.

Since it was technically never released on consoles in the west, I would love to be able to play Salamander 2. I'm not crazy about 2D space ship shmups but I've always been really impressed by gameplay that I've seen of that one.

While I'm at it, Star Wars Arcade is an arcade exclusive that I've always wanted to try. It's one of the few arcade exclusive Star Wars titles, and might be the only one that was never ported to consoles or PC. I once saw an arcade machine while on a road trip with my family as a kid, but didn't have time to play it. I'm curious if there are even any emulators for it? From what I understand the controls of the game were designed exclusively for a joystick set-up and would be problematic for playing with a gamepad, so that's probably why it wasn't ever ported. That's what makes it so special in my eyes though.

I would love some home collections for:
- GTI Club - The House Of The Dead - Initial D - Silent Scope - Time Crisis - Virtua Cop - Virtua Striker - Virtua Tennis
It would also be nice to have Ollie King, The Ocean Hunter, Sega Race TV, and many shoot 'em ups that haven't seen home ports ike:
- 1944 The Loop Master - Air Gallet - Armed Police Batrider - Battle Bakraid - Carrier Air Wing - Dimahoo
Or games that are trapped in the Saturn like:
- Kingdom Grand Prix - Battle Garegga - Terra Diver - Hyper Duel - Etc..
Also a good CAVE collection with all their games, and a good Toaplan collection with all their games. The Switch recently got a bunch of Psikyo games, but are still missing some.

I don't think I knew of this one three years ago.
Would definitely like a chance to play it.
Don't think I knew about Silent Hill Arcade then either, but have gotten to play it.

There's another arcade gem I remember hearing about that never got a home-console port (and I mean NEVER, not physically, not digitally, never!) : Red Earth, the 1996 Capcom fighter that was the first game to use their acclaimed Street Fighter 3 engine, which obviously gave us three of the best-looking fighting games of all time. I would be interested in playing it.

I got duped into watching an exceptionally unfunny AVGN episode a couple weeks ago (this one) :
and when he talked about Street Fighter The Movie for arcades, I realized that it still hasn't been released digitally after all these years. Yeah, it might be bad, but I'd still like to try it for myself.

Great thread. There are Soo many games that should of got a console release.
Osman is one of my favourite platformers of all time which many consider it to be the true sequel to Strider. Would of been perfect for the Saturn but never got a home release.
Joust 2 and is not as good as the first game imo but would of been nice to see a port of it on the Atari 7800.
19XX: The War Against Destiny was a huge Arcade game that should of got a Dreamcast release.
Truxton is one of my favourite ga,es of all time and the Sequel Truxton 2 was also great that never got a console release.
R type leo is actually one of the best games in the series and never got a console release.
And of course Alien vs Predator. I would rather of had this for the Saturn than the Dungeons and Dragons game which is also awesome.

Yeah, it might be bad, but I'd still like to try it for myself. I've played the arcade game at Galloping Ghost and it in no way would be worth paying the license fee to use the digitized actors for Capcom to rerelease the game, it's not offensively bad but very mediocre. The console game of SF The Movie on PS1/Saturn was better, but still not great by any means.
