Has anyone here played it? If so, what did you think of it? What do you think of the gameplay? The single player? The multiplayer? Graphics?
I recently bought a copy at Gamestop for $2. Most people on the internet seem to agree that it felt rushed in comparison to the original Perfect Dark, and that the movement speed in Zero was too slow. I cannot comment because I haven't played the game yet, but as someone who tried out Perfect Dark 64 and hated it, I can safely say that Zero has OBJECTIVELY aged better than the original because of the better framerate, graphics, and of course better controls (because let's face it, all console FPS games from the 5th gen control like total crap by today's standards).
What do you guys think? Is it wrong of me to say this?
Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Perfect Dark Zero. I will offer my thoughts on the game once I've tried it out.

I never got into the series. I've tried it, but I don't really like it.

I like it. I last played through it 3 years ago and these were my thoughts back then:
"It came out in 2005 on Xbox 360 as one of the first games of the new generation, yet it feels like it could easily be mistaken for a brand new game if it came out today.
Whether that means the gaming industry stagnated for 8 years or if the game was just very well made can be argued over, but I feel the latter is closer to the truth.
My biggest complaints with the game is that Joanna isn't really easy on her feet, she moves slowly and can't jump at all, add to that a low and unstable framerate and it gets even more sluggish, far too often the game felt as if it was being played out in slow motion.
The second problem was that what you were suppose to do and where you were suppose to go was always difficult to figure out in the heat of battle, had it not been for the game giving a helping hand pointing out where you have to go I probably wouldn't have kept playing in some missions.
On the positive side the game was good looking with lots of effects and special effects that made otherwise flat and plain surfaces highly detailed and visually interesting.
There was a good selection of weapons that were fun to use and often had extra functions that made them even more useful against different types of enemies, and you could use many of them in combinations as well which was very welcome, like dual wielding two of the same or different weapons or having a gun and a shield or grenades with a gun. There were also vehicles to play with at some points throughout the game.
Simply put it's one of the best games of the generation.
So, after an unforgettable night with Joanna Dark I can't give the game a lower score than 9/10."
Fast forward three years and I feel pretty much the same now as I did back then. Sure, now we have a new generation with even prettier games to compare visuals with but I still think Perfect Dark Zero feels like a much newer game than it actually is, it doesn't feel like an 11 year old game as much as a three year old game.

Balder Huh, that's interesting. Goldeneye 64 is a game I can't stand playing nowadays because of the highly outdated and clunky controls, but I generally love any dual-stick FPS, so long as the campaign isn't dude-bro shlock (i.e. Killzone 2) and there's enough focus on gunplay (unlike in Goldeneye 64 or Timesplitters Future Perfect, which had you doing endless boring tasks and/or puzzle solving). What other FPS games do you enjoy besides Halo?

Ghost Recon (all of them) Star Wars Battlefront I/II (even though I prefer them in 3rd person) Star Wars Republic Commando (on my top ten list) Steel Battalion Xbox 360:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/Black ops (I only play them on LAN parties, pretty fun) Deus Ex Human Revolution (On my top ten) Fallout 3 Left 4 Dead 2 Xbox One
Titanfall (on my top ten, also my favorite X1 game) Wolfenstein The New Order/The Old Blood Payday 2 Those are the ones that I like enough to mention. Playstation has very few FPS games that I would even care to play.

Balder Interesting! I have a few questions for ya: 1: Is Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 compelling as a purely single player experience? I've always wanted to try those games. 2: What are your thoughts on the EA Battlefront reboot?

Doesn't look like a Battlefront game, just Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. And don't get me started on that damn season pass...

Splitscreen or LAN? It's one of the best multiplayer games in terms of convenience actually! You can play up to 2 people on one screen and it has System Link (LAN) with up to 8 players, where you can play two people on each Xbox. That means you can LAN with 8 people and only use 4 Xboxes. I always bring this game to a Modern Warfare 2 LAN party as we typically play a round of this to break up CoD for a while.

I'm playing through Perfect Dark Zero's single player for the first time right now and I am actually enjoying it so far. Previously I had only played the multiplayer mode with bots but that was mostly enjoyable as well. It baffles me that people still give this 2005 prequel shit in 2020 even though it has more features than the modern day FPS does (splitscreen and LAN support for example).
I agree with Armored Core Raven. PD Zero is a fun time.

I played the demo at some point, but it didn't grab me. Maybe the whole game is better, I just had to give it more time. At the time it didn't click.
On the other hand I did like the original a lot though. I still prefer GoldenEye, but Perfect Dark on the N64 was outstanding.

Well I don't mean to make PD Zero out to be some kind of masterpiece or perfect sequel/prequel. It has some noticeble problems, such as the character models looking like cartoony plastic action figures or several aspects of the story, which I know was a deal-breaker for a lot of PD fans. I'm simply saying that I enjoyed Zero for what it is and I think it's a fun FPS. Not perfect, not necessarily even great, just good or merely ok at worst. Most fans consider it an abomination, which is not only ridiculous but also highly insensitive to Rare, who managed to make the game with an extremely downsized staff AND release it within the Xbox 360's launch, which is quite an accomplishment, especially considering the game is pretty fun. TBH Rare's fanbase has always been highly cancerous and one of the absolute worst for a VG developer that I can think of.

I feel people just expects more out of Rare. They were basically Nintendo good, and now they aren't.
A good comparison is Retro. Retro has kept their quality since their Iguana days, so people are cool with them.
