Hey guys are you enjoying watching the youtubers suggested by people in the other thread? Well, I have some excellent news, Google just upgraded Youtube's TOS and nobody can say swears anymore if they wanna get paid. Yay \°/ The new terms for monetized videos are as follows: Content that is considered "not advertiser-friendly" includes, but is not limited to: - Sexually suggestive content, including partial nudity and sexual humor
- Violence, including display of serious injury and events related to violent extremism
- Inappropriate language, including harassment, profanity and vulgar language
- Promotion of drugs and regulated substances, including selling, use and abuse of such items
- Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown
Does anyone know any good youtuber that doesn't do any of that things other than Mark? (Actually now that I think about it Mark tends to swear when a game is so bad it pisses him off doesn't he?) Any channel? AT ALL?

Ok, NOOO!? I hope those rules aren't actually enforced or anything, because the better channels I know have tons of those.

Pretty much this. Let's see: - "Sexual humour" is a terribly broad category. - "subjects related to war, political conflicts etc. even if imagery is not shown" guarantees that we'll have no channels about History. Or even any review channel that, for any reason, has to discuss these subjects - I remember all the times Super Bunnyhop reviewed both war and anti-war games and had to discuss war itself (This war of mine, Spec Ops, MGS 3...). Also, in countries that are deep in political turmoil (like Brazil right now), journalistic youtube channels could give a fair view about the events, as these channels aren't related to conservative media giants. It's terrible to lose those. I think they're aiming only for content made for little kids, and I mean Barney level stuff.

Honestly I think that's quite fair. There's WAY too much sex + nudity in the media these days and I don't think it's right for people to get paid for showing that kind of stuff to an audience that includes children. It's very immoral if you ask me. But violence, on the other hand, is not as bad for children as sexuality is; at least, that's how it was for me. So I do see some flaws with these new rules.
It's a shame that kids these days have such easy access to violence and pornography via the internet. It really disturbs me.
EDIT: Did I say "quite fair"? Sorry, I meant that in regards to the policy on sexual content only. Sorry for any confusion, I was really tired when I posted that.

It's all just too dumb to start censoring videos for monetization and not removing them from YT. If it's allowed on YT, then it's good for monetization.

Ok, NOOO!? I hope those rules aren't actually enforced or anything, because the better channels I know have tons of those. They're already starting I'm afraid, they are even censoring makeup channels because they cover acne and scars. It's terrible to lose those. I think they're aiming only for content made for little kids, and I mean Barney level stuff. I had thought about news channels but I hadn't thougght about history channels. Well, I guess we can always rely on the History Channel...? Yeah... no.

Is this detected by users flagging content or can YouTube sense the sexuality electronically?

Is this detected by users flagging content or can YouTube sense the sexuality electronically? From what I can gather it's half and half. There's a bot going over titles and descriptions and a second bot going through flagged content.

No idea how YouTube is going to survive this, tbh. Creators (and viewers) are gonna have to go somewhere else.

You'd be surprised how sensitive a developing mind is to that sort of material. Balder No, I don't totally agree with it. As I already said I don't think fictional violence is all that harmful for people age 13+, and foul language isn't a problem so long as it's not a regular domestic thing like it unfortunately was in MY household. The part of this policy that I'm most against, however, is the oppression of political opinions. IMO opinions should not be censored.

Not even the greatest empires throughout the years have survived. YouTube will fall one day and another shall rise.
