Now I haven't played this one, as it was way before my time. But what interested me was that it's available on Facebook! Just find that weird.

Great choice! Just reading the title of this thread gave me nostalgia.

I first played this game on my school's Apple II computer lab in the late 1980s. This introduced me to computer gaming and the wonderful world of 5 1/4" floppy disks. We always had fun playing this game as a class, and I think it was a perfect example of what "edutainment" games should have been.
There was nothing like naming your character "assface" and then dying of dysentery. Then, later on, other kids would come upon your tombstone, and the class would erupt. Teachers would explode, but there was never any way to check and see who wrote it. Of course, once the computer was turned off, there was never any evidence, because there wasn't a hard drive.
I love this game.

The first version was 1971? Apparently. Perhaps it was just a text version of the game?

My experiences were similar to dschult3. Lots of fun playing this on the Apple IIe's in the elementary school computer lab.

10/10 would die of dysentery again.
In all seriousness, this must be one of the few truly edutainment classics out there.
