Halloween is my favorite holiday so October will be full of appropriate games for me. I realize it's been a while since I posted a discussion here, so will talk about what I've been playing once a week. They aren't going to be full reviews, just posting some thoughts on them. Maybe I'll do the same for movies and anime I watch for Halloween, I think we have some horror and anime fans here. Anyway I'll get on with this, everything from this week is something I have not previously played before. Monster in my Pocket - NES Monster in my Pocket is a fairly late NES based on the property of the same named property that I'm not too familiar with, guess it was a popular collectible card series in the 90s that I oddly don't remember. This game is a typical action platformer from Konami where you can play as Dracula or Frankenstein, I mean the vampire or the monster. It's pretty easy considering the console it's on. I didn't beat the game myself yet but got quite far and only used one continue, would've kept going if I didn't have to leave, I've also heard that it's hard to get through so don't think the difficulty ramps up significantly at the end of anything. I would recommend it for anyone interested, I will definitely go back to it and try the vampire as I played with the monster before. I don't think there is much difference between the two though. The levels are a bit unique for a game like this since it's miniature versions of the monsters going through like kitchens and stuff.
Frankenstein: The Monster Returns - NES I'm not really sure if I like this one. As you can probably see in the screenshot here the game is a bit rough looking and the gameplay could have used some polish as well. The controls are a bit stiff but not enough to be too much of a problem, except for when trying to turn around quickly at times. It's also an action platformer and while the game is a bit rough around the edges but I didn't hate playing it either. The story is nothing special and it's weird that the monster talks like a normal person but it's interesting and short enough that I wasn't skipping the cutscenes. I did not beat this game either but might go back to it(not as sure on this one), I wouldn't particularly recommend playing it or staying away as it's about average.
Clock Tower - Super Famicom I have been meaning to play this game for years now and I'm glad I finally got around to it, as it's by far my favorite of the three games I played this week. The first game in the Clock Tower series was never released in the west but it does have a fan translation, that as far as I can tell was well done. Clock Tower may not appeal to everything being a point and click adventure game but it's very approachable as the main character can die but afterwards are able to continue right from that spot. The graphics, music, design, and story are all very atmospheric and set a nice tone for the game. The interface is done well for a 1995 game as it's plenty easy to access the inventory and spot out most interactive objects. The experience is short but it replayable since the items and rooms are slightly randomized and it was a good number of endings(I think 7). And getting the best ending is a not a cryptic mess either, I don't think it's likely to achieve the first time on a blind playthrough and but after a few tries or a quick look at a walkthrough it's not hard to get. It's a bit violent for an SNES game which is probably part of why it didn't come over with a crazed scissor man stalking the main for much of the game, although I think MK2 and 3 were out by then(and they are way worse, Clock Tower is violent but no actual blood that I saw) so maybe more for it being a late game and more niche genre for consoles. I highly recommend this one for anyone with an interest in checking out a 16-bit horror game, it has me interested in checking out the sequels for sure.
And those are the three games I've checked out so far, has anyone else played some games for October already or planning to? Also if you just have suggestions, I wouldn't mind hearing them.

I had Clock Tower 3 for the PS2, so I was always interested in playing the previous games, but I didn't know where to find them.

The first Resident Evil on plus was a surprise, so it was Transformers Devastation. They probability feel bad for the price increase and the lack of first party games for October.
Although I'm sure they are counting Rise Of The Tomb Raider as their Q4 game since lately they tend to count 3rd party games as their own. They did that with Metal Gear last year. To be fair those IPs had always felt first party.
I didn't think of Halloween, but now that you mention it, Resident Evil makes more sense for October because of the sales and all. Those guys are always thinking of everything.

Nice selection, Pimpjira! The game I choose for this year was a light-weight one: "Condemned: Criminal Origins". It's cool, albeit pretty standard stuff (especially compared to last year's Alien Isolation). I also thought about playing Deep Fear, but it demands too much time (since it's in japanese, I'll have to either slowly try to translate some of the important stuff or use a tutorial, which would suck), so maybe next year.

Well, now that I think about it I got Amnesia for free but never actually played it. May give it a whirl.
Oh, I also bought Blood and F.E.A.R. which are a must for halloween in my opinion.

Maybe I'll try to play Dead Space for the 4th time, and not quit on the 3rd mission. I don't like scary games that much, but I do love Alan Wake!

I remember Condemned on 360, I don't recall if I finished it but it was a good game. I can't do japanese games without subtitles if reading is required. I probably could have got through Clock Tower, but the game wouldn't have been as memorable without the story.

Amnesia is good but also moves at a slow pace, so keep that in mind. Takes a couple hours to get to the real intresting stuff. Both awesome games that I have on PC. Clive Barker's Undying is another good one.

Halloween can pretty broad and not just include scary games(only Clock Tower from the OP is a horror game) and also stuff like Costume Quest or Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

I intend to reserve my time for the original because the sound mix in Director's Cut is awful! I'm getting the original version, eventually.

I want to be anywhere where they're playing this song.
Otherwise, I have a few Silent Hill games, a Ghostbusters or 2 EDFs I can whip out.
