Cervantes Oblivion is not a bad game, trust me. It's much more immersive than Skyrim is, and has a much better magic system, too. Morrowind allows for the most freedom with magic of all the Todd Howard Elder Scrolls games, but Oblivion's magic system is still very good. And like I said before, Oblivion has a great sense of humor. Oblivion has also aged better than Morrowind IMO. But I understand if this type of game isn't for you.

Spirit Bomb - Yeah, I've heard that Skyrim's magic system was a downgrade compared to Oblivion. In the end, I'm just not much of an open-world fan, really, unless it's entirely based on exploration instead of quests, which means traversing the terrain must be a challenge in itself (Dark Souls, the top-view Zeldas). I still give quest-based open-worlds a shot every now and then; right now, I'm even planning to play three of them in the following months: Red Dead Redemption (because I love westerns, that's why! It also being a shooter instead of status-based helps), Dragon's Dogma (since it focuses much more on action than RPG), and The Witcher 2 (also has more of a focus on action and is just generally known as a great series). Maybe I'll dug deeper in the Elder Scrolls series when I get some more time; right now, I don't see myself playing many games in the genre besides those 3. Ah, 4: there's also Dark Souls 2. All those games have been sitting on my pc/shelves for a year or more, so I really should play them!

If you love westerns, you'll love Red Dead Redemption.

Cervantes + everyone else who has heard Oblivion get criticized: I'd just like to point out that most of the people slandering Oblivion on the web are Skyrim fanbrats who haven't even touched Oblivion or ANY other Elder Scrolls game. It's pretty easy to tell, actually, just look at the sales figures: Oblivion: 9.5 million units sold across all platforms Skyrim: over 30 million units sold across all platforms Usually the people who talk shit about a game are the ones who haven't played it, and in no case is this more apparent than here. There's literally no way every Skyrim player has played Oblivion, and it's extremely doubtful that even a third of them have. So yeah, don't listen to the hate.
