Balder Tell me about it. Whatever happened to Magnum Skywolf? How about the printed version of Ethel? People shouldn't say things that they can't carry through.

We've got the Ethel comic about a year ago, as for Magnum Skywolf we get digital pages here and there. I download them in periods, meaning I download a lot of them rarely.

More interesting question: Where did he find someone that still makes/sells Genesis boxes?

More interesting question: Where did he find someone that still makes/sells Genesis boxes? Looks like there are a few places. This came up on my Google search. www.customgamecases.com/online-store/!/SEGA-Genesis-Game-Case-50-Cases/p/55700249 There are some nice multi-use cases out there too. I've been meaning to grab some to store my Atari 2600 games, since there are some cover templates that look quite nice and fit generic cases. Haven't found any that are cheap to ship to Canada though, so waiting until I next have to drive down to the U.S.

Mark explained CGR's situation pretty well on this new video: Did anybody else hope that Mark was about to break out and sing some Daft Punk once he put the helmet on? Mark needs to make more videos: Better Faster Stronger Work it, work it, never over... The public is never satisfied.

I don't really understand Mark's hate for top 10 lists. I think they'd be fun and he could be good at them.

Derrick and TJ used to do them, and Mark had his end of year countdowns. I think his problem with many top 10 lists (and watchmojo in particular, those he doesn't mention them by name) are the ones that are just stolen footage with voiceover. Videos that are very cheap/quick to make, and rack up views mainly. Edit: I don't think he has any problem with similar content from people who record their own footage, etc. I think what is irritating to him is the combination of minimal effort and stolen content by some very popular channels. It actually remind me of the stories that came up last year about the game "That Dragon Cancer" where streamers were seeing revenue based on the game, but the developer wasn't, basically because people were electing to watch someone else play the game. This for a game where part of the proceeds were going to charity. Understandable for the developers to be frustrated. www.polygon.com/2016/3/25/11305862/that-dragon-cancer-lets-playwww.thatdragoncancer.com/thatdragoncancer/2016/3/24/on-lets-playsObviously Mark's case is not the same, since he's not a game developer, but it still must be frustrating to see someone take your work (and I don't men even Mark's game footage, but footage of him holding consoles, and even audio his own voiceover), edit together a top 10 list, turn on monetization, and garner hundreds of thousands, or even millions of views, particularly at a time when new CGR reviews only garner a few thousand.

Mark is very thoughtful at making lists. They are very good.
Derrick was really bad. I like his stuff, but the lists he made were too personal.

And yet again Mark flip-flops with his plans. Now CGR is going to be part time with 3 reviews a week, the rest of his job time he's going to focus on CGR Feature reviews coming on Kickstarter on Dec 1st. I think this was a bit early. I think this is fine, but my main concern is what price he's going to go for.

3 videos a week is fine. But I think Mark should take a serious look at CGR and make some changes for the future.
Don't get me wrong, I like CGR as much as anyone else here. Don't take the following blunt words as insults, because that's not my intention.
Lately I'm hearing a lot of whining and complaining, that YouTube isn't working for him any more, that it isn't profitable, etc. And yet, other creators are doing alright. Mark admits as much when he points out how WatchMojo can get way more views than him with possibly less effort. Other gaming channels like Game Sack make content about the same subject as him and get 10x the views he does.
My question is, why keep doing what you're doing, then? If you know what you're doing is failing, why not change it?
I don't want to see CGR become like every other channel. But let's be real: he's been making basically the same videos since 2008. When the views started to go down, Mark's response was to just make videos more frequently. I think that was wrong.
Adding some variety, looking at what the other guys are doing and putting his own spin on it - that's what I think Mark III should be about.

I've kind of been surprised with they way Mark has handled this, doesn't seem like Mark at all. Even in '99 "the game room" had more creativity. I remember in one review they went outside and did a skit. Maybe just little things like that, but maybe big changes too. Especially now that Mark is all by himself, the videos are dry. No more chasing Derek around with the GAME.com or anything like that, it's all the same. The DOOM video kinda came close, and I liked the awesome possum video, but generally there is just over-saturation.

Dan E. Kool couldn't agree more (don't get used to me saying that to you) manicottimafia this is exactly what we need. It's what made the Best of CGR film so good.
