Damn, apparently Mega Drives were still selling after all these years. I heard that was the case but I never really believed it until now, since I've never actually been there.
I've heard this new Mega Drive supports SD cards too.

Does it attach to the Sega CD? I believe so since it's supposed to be the real thing and not just a clone. It has a SD card slot and comes with 22 games, but it is a fully functioning Sega Mega Drive.

Very cool news. Too bad importing one would cost well over 100 dollars.
Honestly, if I lived in Brazil and if one of the games that came packaged with it was the incredible, underrated Streets of Rage 3 AND if the system came packaged with a controller that was on par with the default Genesis controllers that Sega themselves produced back in the day, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

It's not THAT great news, guys. I've heard it doesn't attach to the Sega CD or even to the 32X, and it's not fully compatible with every game (I guess Virtua Racing would be an incompatibility?). Although it's not emulation, it's also not the real thing either - they used similar components, but, for example, the sound chip is the same found in those ATGames Genesis systems - as you all know, the sound in those things is terrible. Also, it only has composite video - not a terrible thing, but they could have taken the chance to at least include component or RGB.
So, basically, it's another ATGames Genesis. It's cool for people who are curious about the system and want to play legitimate cartridges, but for people like us, it's better to just get a real Genesis/Mega Drive. Especially when you factor in the price.

That's a shame, they had a great thing but they SEGA'd it all up.
SEGA slogans over the years:
The Arcade Experts. The challenge will always be there. Now, there are no limits. Hot hits today! Hot hits on the way! Major fun and games! Do me a favour, plug me into a Sega. Genesis does what Nintendon’t. Welcome To The Next Level. The "SEGA!" scream. To be this good takes AGES, To be this good takes SEGA. Dreamcast - It’s Thinking. Dreamcast - Up to 6 billion players. We are why you can't have nice things.

I've just confirmed it from their website's FAQ. They especifically mention "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" being incompatible, for example. A more apt comparison seems to be with the Genesis 3: it's a real console (not emulation), but very, very limited because of cheap components. The built-in everdrive is still cool, but, with all the incompatibilities and price, I'll pass.

Yeah, the SD card slot is still really cool, but not enough to sell it for me.
