It's all good man. At this point I doubt you could get into any game that is not shooting. I never heard you talk about anything like it because your system does not offer those genres.
I think ReCore is the closest thing you have and that is not even close as something as Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, or NieR Automata. Basically you have zero way of forming a proper opinion in the matter.
That would be like me trying to get into a debate about DOTA, WOW, or LOL. There is nothing I can say because I don't get those games.

Lol, do I have to remind you my favorite singleplayer game is Rayman? I love shooters yeah, but I like other genres too.

Just curious, what was the last Zelda game you played through? I can't remember what it was called, but it was on GBA I believe. It was top down view like the classics, how Zelda should be. Just asking because you're the first person I've heard ask for a more linear Zelda game. My favorite Zelda is also top-down, A Link To The Past. What I loved about it (among other things) was that feeling of total freedom - to go anywhere, do anything. In reality, of course, you have to follow the script to make any progress. You have to go to this dungeon first, then that one, collect the new item, etc. But the feeling of exploration was real. From what I've heard, that's what BotW is all about, and I'd argue it's what the series has been pointed toward since the beginning. Zelda isn't about the story (save the princess, be the hero), it's about the adventure. So I'm surprised that you prefer a linear Zelda.

You are a lost case Balder. Dan was right all along. I'm always right. I'd also like to point out that Jim Sterling gave BotW the same score as he did Sonic Forces. Anyone with eyes can see a disparity between those games in terms of quality. If he doesn't like Zelda, that's fine, but be consistent in your reviews if you want them taken seriously.

Open-world games are often filled with a great bunch of nothing and copy and paste side missions--> the Assassin's Creed games.

I'd call old Zelda games open worlds. They had side missions, but I think they were also linear (they were in ALttP for sure). But I haven't played BotW yet, so I can't say what's different.

I think the old games are more linear than open world. You have a main goal that is not oversaturated with boring side content. I think Breath of the Wild is more like the modern open world with time fillers.

The game is a linear as you want it to be. You can straight up go to beat the final boss if you please once you get to the plains because there are no restrictions like in any other open world game. Or you can go anywhere else, in which case the game offers a world that is fully interactive which enhances your sense of exploration, adventure, and immersion.

Stories become better when they are put together linearly by a game designer.
