I never played this game but I heard the Genesis version was superior than the SNES one.
I also heard the IP was for sale recently, but I never did catch up on who end up buying it. If they did, I'm sure a new game would come out of that deal.
Just like the ToeJam, Vectorman, Boogieman, and Rayman games, these are the kind of series I never felt compelled to try, mostly because the art design never called my attention.
I can still see other people growing up with them and liking them though.

stratogustav It was up for sale? Please, let it be a game faithful to its style. The first game was tough for a kid and Hell itself was just level two (actually it was planet Heck, populated by lawyers, snowmen and hellhounds, but you get the idea). There was no way I could've beat the game without my current gaming skills. It diversified at least every second level. You could be in a submarine en route to fight a regular-sized goldfish in a bowl or you could be bungee jumping over a pool of snot. I also saw two VHS copies of the cartoon the other day. Whoa, that show was mad! If anyone knows where I can track down a PS1 copy of Earthworm Jim 2, please let me know.

 Such a cool game. Beautifully animated characters, great sense of humor, tough-as-nails gameplay. Sometimes I go back to games like these and wonder how the heck I did it as a kid. The PS3 HD remaster has wayy easier difficulty settings, but nothing beats the real thing on original hardware. The TV show was classic Saturday Morning entertainment, too.  4/5 Groovy! |

I'm a huge fan of the cartoon even to this day, I rewatched the series as a marathon last autumn (2016) and it's still one of the funniest cartoons ever, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing the original game on Mega Drive back in the day when it was new.

It's hard to believe the guy who designed the look of the Earthworm Jim series was the same one responsible for that crude-looking Nickelodeon show Catscratch.
