There are any games you mates consider exceptions in genres or series you usually can't enjoy? For me, the genre is the cover-shooter: you know, those 3rd person games full of chest high walls everywhere. I dislike cover mechanics in general, and just prefer when you're supposed to keep moving your character around instead of gluing yourself to every wall. That said, Binary Domain and Vanquish are games I truly enjoy. That's because Vanquish doesn't rely too much on its cover mechanics (you're supposed to only use covers very briefly, while you slide and run around most of the time) and Binary Domain both has some fun squad-based mechanics and a lot of great setpieces that make it play more like a successor to Sega's lightgun shooters (think of Virtua Cop 2, LA Machineguns) than a proper cover-based shooter. Also, I don't usually play Strategy/RPG games (or strategy games in general), as the battles are too long and there are usually too many mechanics to remember and micromanagement to do - I don't dislike the genre, but it's hard to find enough time to play it properly. But I had a lot of fun playing Valkyria Chronicles last year, to the point that I got every achievement (which needed finishing the game again on hard) and completed every DLC and challenge missions. I'm also a fan of Dragon Force on the Saturn, although I only played one of the campaigns (I intend to play with the other characters soon) and haven't touched the sequel yet. For kart/combat racers, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is my sole exception. By the way, I still have to run against centipede sometime! We'll certainly play it this month. This is just a great game.

The genres I don't like are "adventure games" in the like of Full Throttle, Firewatch, and Gone Home, but I started Life Is Strange and yes it was boring, but it was at least playable. I may even go back some day.
Then there is turn based combat RPG games. Until now I haven't tried one. They have never called my attention. I really doubt their would be a game that would make me want to beat it in that category, but you never know.
I also forgot RTS games, out of wich I only think I would play Herzog Zwei. I don't like the genre at all even if it is made by Nintendo, like Pikmin which I dislike. The same goes with MOBAs and MMOs, unless you want to count Eve Valkyrie which I love.
I also don't like games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Farmville, etc.. I don't even know how to call those.
By the way, even though I'm a PlayStation fan I never liked their mascot series like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, Sackboy, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, etc.. I tried a couple and couldn't continue after 5 minutes, they are simply not Nintendo, you can tell right away. Although that's really more a Rare thing, than a Nintendo thing.

I was never a huge fan of JRPGs at all, but I did have some fun with Battle Hunter (although I guess that could be considered more of a tactical RPG).

Dark Souls. Yes, I actually dislike Dark Souls (and I probably would dislike Bloodborne too) even though it's fucking awesome! I just can't deal with how slow-paced it is.

I can't stand simulation racing games. I've got a couple Gran Turismo games and I've played some Forza titles but I can never really get into them. EDIT: According to Google, Rocket League is a racing sim so there's one I like.

I thought the Persona games were overrated, I got bored with Okami, and I think most modern shooters are either CoD or Halo clones. Except Borderlands, I like those games. And yeah, I was disappointed by Destiny. I hate Real Time Strategy's when they are on consoles. stratogustav 'Life is Strange' started off on Tumblr. spidershinobi , centipede , thefurox - I adjusted the title of the thread, so it's more clear now: don't forget to mention a game you enjoy in those series/genres you dislike! stratogustav - I'm also no huge fan of strategy games, but Herzog Zwei certainly looks awesome and I think I would enjoy it.

stratogustav 'Life is Strange' started off on Tumblr. Tell us, does it allow you to invent your own gender? I didn't get that far. You start as a chick, and it looks like you continue as the same chick for the rest of the game. You'll have to look for other games for that kind of stuff. So far I don't know of a game that will let you choose anything other than just a male or just a female.

Not really a fan of arcade-style racers, but I make an exception for the Burnout games.
